Sorry. But it's full of jerks. Any sensible gripe is attacked every time by the 'git gud' or 'It's your fault for not enjoying the grind' brigades wanting to shut down any discussion about the games weaknesses. This game won't reach it's potential if large portions of the community are going to be hostile to anyone who raises a criticism or complaint. You can respond having a go at me (no doubt a few will without realising they're illustrating my point for me) but I won't read it. I'm sick of the hostility in this community. It's ruining the experience for me - I figured I will enjoy the game more if I just don't engage with the forum. Bye.

Well I have noticed that compared to 3 or so years ago this forum has become a bit toxic. When I first started coming to this forum it had alot of nice and helpful cmdrs and some great stories that cmdrs made. People were generally friendly and helpful.
Now you get trolling, complaining, arguing, name calling etc etc. It isnt as welcoming as it used to be. In some way I think that the cmdrs that were here years ago were generally nice and friendly and now alot are just petty and looking for arguments and trying to force their opinions on others. Its sad really. Because when I first started playing the game there were alot of awesome cmdrs that were always happy to answer questions and help. And people weren't afraid of putting their ideas out there or asking silly questions because they wouldn't get slammed with insults and agro.
But I would like to say thank you to those cmdrs that were nice and helpful when I started the game a long time ago.

... and yet, 30 minutes after starting the "I quit the forum" thread, still logged in to the forum reading the replies :S

Of course. People who want to quit just quit. People who want attention post 'I quit' topics. I must have quit hundreds of games in my life. Never once felt the need to step on a soap box and inform the world. :p

The newcomers forum is still like that. Meaningful discussion also happens in the 'suggestions' forum. The Dangerous Discussion section has kinda devolved into "ED SUXORX" vs "NO ITS THE BESTEST!". Anyway, OP is just upset most people in another topic disagree with him: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/415710-Player-interdictions-unfair-fight

I agree with OP!
Game has many flaws while potential is huge.
Those forum white knights/korean grinders addicted to RPG games infesting every constructive criticism thread, every second post is theirs till thread goes to oblivion.
It was supposed to be space sim and it ends up being safe space RPG arcade game.
Same 10 users that live on this forum would be happy if next expansion would be dressing cats for prom night with magic swords.

Its the games fault...this game inspires passion and passion is a double edged sword Im afraid. As well as players who passionately love this game, that passion swings both ways meaning some passionately love and hate the game. Some say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...same sorta thing applies to gamers unfortunately and that presents itself on the forums now and then.

And then theres the boredom aspect...large parts of this game are boring as hell so some will amuse themselves on the forums as a distraction. To passionately love a game and still be bored with it sometimes produces forum trolling...some worse than others.

So as ye can see...everything is the fault of the game...and maybe TJ ^

why not leave with some dignity instead of a rant ?

Sorry to see you go OP, but i understand why.

While there nuggets of gold to be found in these forums, you have to wade through a cesspit of moaning and negativity to find them.

As they say, the company you keep affects who you are, so if you are picking up the negative attitudes of the losers here, then taking a break from the forums is the best thing you can do for yourself.

This is excellent advice that many forum users could/should take to heart and apply.

For those that don't know about the feature, it can be found by clicking on the user name of whoever you wish to ignore, and then selecting 'View profile'.
Then select the second option from the list directly under the user name in the profile 'Add to Ignore List'.
Job done. You will have just improved your forum experience.

Because no one is going to make an effort on your behalf, by developing and supporting a positive forum culture.

If all discourse was ignored, a world full of cowards would grind to a halt.

There's criticism, and then there's whining.

We're all bored of [the endless] whining, so we troll the poster to cheer us up.
Constructive criticism, or problems we respond better too and will quickly be piling up to offer advice or feedback.

It's all how you word it.

For me its more about how the word is interpreted. So often a thread is read and the response is based more on the interpretation then the actual meaning. If we spend time, ask questions to understand where the meaning is, perhaps we would all benefit ?

Forums in general can be taxing for sure, but I would try not to take it too seriously.

Also look at the way you yourself tend to formulate your gripes. Words matter.
I am not saying you are one of the bleating whiners. You are not on my ignore list, which in general is a good sign :).
The whining by the many whiney whiners poisons the forums, and provokes harsh reactions, but if you formulate your complaints in a constructive way people might agree with you more easily, or at least respond in a serious manner.

I just noticed that you won't be reading the responses.
In that case I won't waste any more time on this.

EDIT:
I do want to add that in your last thread it is your tone which became hostile very quickly, for reasons undetectable by me.
So if that thread is the trigger, then it would be advisable to have a look in the mirror.

I have one piece of advice regarding exposure to any forum on the interwebthingie:
