Im in love with the smalls ships ( again )....

...Im a triple Elite player, all ships, all engineers, billions in credits and so on.

Soon or later you will be bored flying only the big/medium ships.

Now Im flying just the small ones. Exploring with a Hauler...Hunting pirates in high extraction with the Adder, doing scanning missions in planets with the sidewinder, bombing base planets missions with the Eagle.

So much fun !!! Hope some day we will get only small ships missions !

Reading the thread title I expected to see that you had bought yourself a Vulture. Now, go fix that! 🤶

Jokes aside, I think we all get trapped in the longing for bigger and "better", only to learn that the small ships are where the fun is. Not always practical, but who needs that? If you like combat, and don't want a NPC co pilot, try and fit a fighter to something like a Keelback, and then go to a CNB or Haz Res and find some Eagles etc. The fighter is really fun to fly, and the Eagles etc. don't seem to bother shooting at the mothership.

Give me a reason to fly small ships and I'll happily put as much time and effort into them as any other ship.

Back when Palin's "Thargoid junk" missions were a big deal, I put a lot of effort into finding the perfect ship for it, which, ultimately, led to me building my Viper III "Blackbird", which can whizz across the surface at 900m/s (thus giving any waiting gankers a surprise) and then scoop stuff straight off the surface and then jump back into SC within a couple of seconds.

The DBX was the ideal ship to use for exploring Thargoid crash sites, and Guardian sites, because (due to it's small size) it was easy to land close to the site on rough ground.

I've built a pair of Cobra III's (The "Selina Kyle" and the "Felicia Hardy") especially for pilfering from megaships.
They're good for that as a result of having a decent sized slots for a shield and enough small slots for things like Recon Limpets and Hatchbreakers.
You could do those missions in a medium ship but a small ship is a smaller target and you can easily get in amongst the megaship's superstructure to avoid fire.

Most recently, I've started doing planetary scan missions for G5 mat's in a ship, which led to me building a DBS "Coyote" specially for the job.
The DBS works well for this because it's small (and, more importantly, narrow) so it can squeeze into tight corners and scan things where you're supposed to go in an SRV.
Also, It's hardpoint placement provides terrific convergence for launching dumbfire missiles at ground targets such as anti-aircraft batteries.
Also, also, it runs really cold so it's often possible to pop a Heat Sink and then complete the missions unnoticed.

Imagine what we could do if FDev actually put some thought into creating stuff to do in small ships?

And, yes.
The Dolphin also has the slots to make it ideal for a lot of things.
I just can't bring myself to fly the space-bus.

Some rep for the OP.
Mostly because hes right.
How many players simply charge straight up the ship ladder to the big 3 or 4 without even taking their time to get to know the smaller ships.
Or finding out how much fun can be had in a small/med ship
OK I own a T9, a mining 'conda, and a thargoid busting 'vette, but most of my time I spend buzzing an AspX around(for the eh hem trading I get involved with ;) )
But jumping back in the multi-cannon viper and chewing pirates in a haz-res is great fun and as for the souped up sidewinder thats fitted with an interdictor and taken to Deciat/Shin dez for annoying the gankers with..... thats grin city

Try a small ship.... you may love it

Agree!
Small ships are where it's at, for me. Fast, agile, fun.
I find mediums too slow and fat, and large ships irrelevant.
None of em fly good, comparatively imo. I spend 99.9% of my time in game in either a viper 3,viper 4, Eagle or Sidey. The other 0.1% in an Adder. :)

The AspX, even though not a small ship, is one of those ships worth revisiting. I flew the paint off one early in the game, but I hadn't unlocked enough engineers to make it fly well. Now I prefer it to the Phantom, because it feels more nimble, once both are fully engineered. I love my Vette, that I use for shooting at NPCs and scavenging their remains, but it does become "boring" after a while, and then getting into the Vulture is just what the doctor ordered. The Eagle was also a ship I skipped during the hunt for the biggies, but when I went to Colonia it was more or less the only ship I used there.

The Adder´s boost sound man. 😆😆😆😍😍😍😍

Best life is Adder life.

I love my fixed weapon DBS...great fun in RES sites. I've just taken the Viper MkIII out of mothballs to take advantage of the material (engi) discount. That Viper was the first ship I bought after I graduated from the Sidey...

Still... my favorite ship is the Cobra MkIII, I use mine for quick courier missions, material gathering, bubble exploring and scouting new systems to set up shop for BGS activities and occasional combat.

Love the small ships ;)
