If it was a one and done payment, I might be open minded, but it seems it keeps getting you to pay for more content with a bajilion expansions or a subscription, which just turns me off.Elder Scrolls Online is maybe your best bet, but that isn't free.

The full story is a Youtuber I like started playing FF XIV online and it interested me, but isn't on Xbox, so I was hoping to find something to scratch that itch.Well, that's subjective I suppose.
