I’m outraged! (I demand a ship-kit!)

Sorry, just how we seem to start such topics , but I wish there as a hauler kit.

Was wondering if anyone else thinks there should be a hauler ship kit? Or is it too underused for Fdev to take the time?

Would you get one if they made one, even if you don’t use the hauler much? And what sort of kits, raider, shape changing, super spoilers?

I use the hauler for surface mining, easy to land and it makes a good anti gank craft… Just fit it with one mine launcher +ion disruption and drop in one people being interdicted, shut down the engines of the attacker… good fun, takes practice.

Thoughts(s)? preferably relating to what I’m talking about :p

A Hauler ship kit? I agree.

I even found some inspiration.

All ships matter lol

I'd think the hauler is already special and unique enough as it is, the epitome of mediocre simplicity of a ship.
Spies probably like to book passage on them to look inconspicuous piloted by harmless/mostly harmless ranked transitory pilots on their way soon to a cbmkIII. [big grin]

"What`s a Hauler"

LOL, That's what I wanted to ask too.

But seriously...
I think it would be a waste of dev time to create a Hauler ship kit.
FDev can see which ships are popular in the game.
I bet the Hauler is far down that list. I think it might be mostly used as a taxi.

I like the Hauler. It has lots of cool detail on the model. It is a nice design.
But... People will try to move on to better ships asap. The ship is not a keeper.

There are more ships like that. I love the looks of the Adder for example. But I never bought that ship, never used it and I never will.
One of my all time favourites is the Viper IV. I think it is the best looking hull in the game. I still have one sitting in a station somewhere, in cool midnight black.
Sadly I hardly ever fly it, because it is not really viable considering the competition. I do a lot of bounty hunting, so I need a hard hitter. I do not want to take forever to take out an Anaconda.

I would be over the moon if FDev created medium and large versions of the Viper IV. The medium version could be an all purpose vehicle. The large version could be a slick trader or long range explorer. I'd buy a lot of skins and every available ship kit for them. I even made a proposal out of this.

Sometimes, less is more.

The DBX is one of my favorite ships so I thought I'd treat it to a ship-kit.
Having looked at the store, I would never inflict that monstrosity on my beloved DBXs.
It's not even terrible because it's ugly.
Somebody would have, at least, had to put some effort in to make it properly ugly.

The DBX ship-kit (much like the T6 and keelback kits) just looks like somebody made a model of the ship out of lego, realised they had a few bits left over and decided to stick them to the ship as well.
It's terrible because it's thoughtless, low-effort tat and you just know it was "designed" by somebody with no special affinity for the ship.

The biggest tragedy is, if people want a Ship-Kit, and FDev produce something lousy, that's your lot. It's done. It's ticked-off the to-do list.
For a while, somebody at FDev was seriously phoning-it-in with ship-kit designs and if they had any shame they'd redesign the ship-kits for the DBX, T6 and Keelback.

But, erm, yeah.

I fear the same would befall the Hauler.
Somebody at FDev would realise there's a market to exploit, they'd open the folder labelled "3D Studio - small parts", select a varaety of spoilers, fins and sticky-out bits and, Presto! Ship-Kit. [sad]

The Hauler is a ZP ship.
The ZP "prestige" ship is the FdL.
The Hauler Ship-Kit should really be designed to take it's styling-cues from the FdL.
That's not to say it should be a bunch of wings and bumps that try to make the Hauler look like an FdL but it should reflect the "look" of the FdL.

Unless/until somebody's prepared to make the effort, I'd rather they didn't bother.

This is, in a nutshell, the crux of the matter.

It's a real shame because as much as we like to berate FD for game aspects, most of the game is at least visually well put together.

And then paid extras happened, and that's where they decide to cheap out?

Erm.. Wat?

What heresy is this?!

You sir need to get back in that Viper and eat constant rebuys untill you can junk those troublesome FDLs.

But on a serious note the Viper IV is straight up overpowered for a small ship, sure it doesnt hit as hard as the Vulture, nor is it as fast as the MKIII or Courier, but it gets most of the hull a FAS gets with Vulture standard lateral profile. It's a ship that many will underestimate, then pay dearly for doing so. Easily capable of killing an FDL provided it has Dispersal on there somewhere, hell the thing does'nt even need shields if theres no emmisive (Worst crutch perk going) in play. More than capable of firing dual efficient Pa's from silent running with either an armoured or low emmision PP.

Love that thing so much, proper medium ship killer build onto a small profile.

I can kill big ships with it. That is not the problem, but it takes sooooo long.

You'd really want a ship kit for the Hauler? It's such a nicely styled ship now I don't see it lacking anywhere in appearance to warrant a kit. Same goes for the Adder. I've only purchased 2 ship kits so far. One for my Sidewinder just to make it look a little different than the original ship out of the box and one for my T6 to make it look a little less like a flying brick.
