Images of the entire ED galaxy

Greetings fellow explorers :D

CMDR Finwen and I have been busy - stiching and streching a large amount of screenshots into a composite image of the entire ED galaxy.
Top-down view. No shadows.

So on behalf of the FGE and IGER we are happy to share these with the exploration community.

Please enjoy :)

Map poster - ED Galaxy - XL (9000x9000 pixels)

+ with square grid, galactic quadrants and coordinates
+ radial grid based on constellations
+ names of major galactic features and regions (from the galactic mapping project)

(click on the image for full size - 58MB!)

The file is ok for printing at your local printshop if you want to have the galactic map hanging on your wall:

(this is how an earlier version of the map looked like when the file was printed on 200g glossy paper in A1 format and then cropped)

An interactive version of the map can be found at EDSM.

Many thanks to Edgepixel who suggested making a radial map based on constellations.

That's awesome, I downloaded the large version and it has great level of detail. Out of curiosity though, where exactly is Sol on this map? I'm trying to figure it out and am not exactly sure...

On the top of my head, I would say Sol is located at (1999, 3499) in the Large version of the map. (Where the pixel in the upper left corner is (0,0))

All the map spans from -40k LY to +40k LY on the horizontal axis and from -20k LY to + 70k LY on the vertical axis… You should be able to use this to check the coordinates ;)

They're fantastic. Now to get them added to EDD's 2D Maps :D

That is indeed the intention :)

This is fantastic! I used to be able to do this kind of stuff (back in my Dead Frontier days) but ED's galaxy is just too big. Bravo! This'll be so much use to so many people!
