I just thought of this while sitting on the pad at a starport. When odyssey releases, when we dock and before disembarking from our ships, we'd need to power down the ship, by turning off some, or all modules.

Then, once you're seated prepared for takeoff, you have to do a 'pre-flight and startup's checklist. Fuel the ship up over a few seconds, spool up the power plant and distributer (acting like an APU on RL aircraft) then your thrusters will take a couple moments to spool up and engage while your ship leaves the hangar, before launching as normal.

That way we could start our ships 'cold and dark' in starports, or decide what state of readiness our ship is in on the ground (fully powered down/thrusters off/launch ready)

I'd like that ; even better if I can map all that to keys on some fancy controllers toggle switches...

But this would have to be optional, or you'll have a riot from players who grind missions or cargo deliveries, and want as little interruption as possible between trips.

In any case, I'm afraid we can only dream of such an update. It's serious development time for some kind of luxurious polishing. There's still a lot to do in terms of actual gameplay improvement.

Say you want to land, load up and takeoff immediately, you just wouldn't power down same as now.

If you got to a starport and wanted to disembark, you HAVE to turn the ship off.
