Imperial Clipper, What to do?

I need some advice on outfitting my Clipper now that I have one. Currently I have 2 gimbaled C2 Multi's on the underside and 2 C3 Burst Lasers on the wing tips. Any suggestions? I also have it kitted out to have 1075 armor (without military grade) and 450~ shields (I'm eventually going to get a prismatic shield gen).

That's good. Clipper also has enough power to run those awesome large beams, as well, which I use to melt down enemy shields and hulls alike. Are those wingtip large bursts gimbaled? They should be, those things are a football stadium apart, meaning no convergence on fixed. If you want something fixed, I'd do a fixed port side large beam and a gimbaled one starboard.

The other 2 hardpoints are user preference, really; I'd still avoid anything that comes only in fixed variants such as rail guns or PAC's. I can attest that a couple of c2 gimbaled pulse lasers work well on those, I use such a loadout to stay in a good RES instance without running out of ammo.

I'd go pulses myself, less power and load hungry. A7 shields and 4 boosters if you're planning on combat... A rated everything except sensors and life support, D rate those. For generally use 6A shields are fine but just be aware that the shields come down real fast in combat. You'd be better off buying a courier for combat and keeping the clipper for trade and smuggling, piracy and mining duties.

I'm currently in transition from the E7 shields to the C7s. Good thing this ship makes for an excellent bounty hunter otherwise I'd be S.O.L.

It's great at a lot of things, a typical multi role ship and its one of the best looking in the game. Once she's A rated, you'll notice how fast and nimble she really is.

I wouldn't call the Clipper multi role... it can't land at outposts.....and it still looks like a cross between a Learjet and a porcelain bidet with wings.
A completely awful ship which has a go faster button as it's only saving grace :D

Hi Storm

Love the Clipper (I'm currently 10kly away and on my way to the core in one), one of my favourite ships. I'd probably go for large Pulse lasers as Stressfest suggested. Beams and Bursts are devastating but can cause overheating and quickly run down the power. I went for the Prismatics aswell but found them not to be a good option for the Clipper as they really are very power hungry (you'd probably have to go to Pulse Lasers aswell) and increase mass substantially. The A7 Prismatic weighs 160t if memory serves! Which (depending on build) can really effect the Clipper's two best attributes, speed and maneuverability. You could drop to the A6 Prismatic but that weighs the same as a standard A7 (80t), draws more power and is a fraction weaker.

Prismatics do work on some other ships but I found them not to be suited to the Clipper. But have a play as you don't lose money on selling modules, and if you do come up with a workable build please let me know, I'd be really interested in having a look :D

All the best with your new Clipper anyway, it really is a great ship to fly! :D

Of course it's multi role. It can carry more cargo than a T7 (while not costing much more), but also sports two large and two medium hardpoints and enough power to make real use of them.

While its shields are wanting, it does have the ability to leave anything tasty enough to hurt it in its wake should they start to falter.

As to its appearance? Surely a matter of taste. I rather like it. Matt black with red lighting would look really great.

Inability to land at outposts is, generally speaking, a much smaller problem than some people make it out to be. Since I graduated to a bit more pricey ships, I found I rarely even have the need to go to outposts given my playstyle. And when I do, it's real easy to either own something smaller for those rare instances, or just get a temporary ship to get you there.
