Ships Imperial Courier & Cobra MkII As Explorer & Fighting Ships & What Are Your Uses?

Hay guys!

So, its been a while since I've last played this game and I'm thinking on buying myself a Imperial Courier, as I really quite like the desgin for it. However my plans are to have it for a fighter & Explorer ship. So my qeastion is, How reasonable is it for thos 2 tasks?.

I do enjoy my Asp Exp I have atm, but my only gims about it, is its horrible institutional design of its cockpit and ship itself. (Yes I hate low-tech lookin ships). So that is the reason why I wish to perhas sell it for a good handful of cash or so.

The 2nd idea I have in mind, is to go back to my old buddy Cobra MKII, that is not only quite fast, but I did enjoy its     -pit and general look. However Vs the Imperial Courier, I whuold like to kown, if it be a better fighter and explorer ship. (As the Imperial Courier is quite small, I think the Cobra is bigger ).

Lasty I whuold love to kown what your uses are for the Imperial Courier itself!, so please feel free to let me kown

The iCourier is a fighting ship... Well, it's a pure fighter in my opinion. It can fit very powerful shields for how small and nimble it is. The Courier is one of the fastest ships in the game... With enhanced thrusters it is fantastic at dog fighting... I run mine with two fixed lightweight Multi-cannons and a plasma accelerator... I love it.

Now, as an exploration ship? It might work... After a decent fuel scoop and the scanners... It won't have too much space left over. Also... You might want to engineer the FSD to get decent range... There are far better ships for exploration, though... You own one of the best, already.

In my opinion the Courier is all that you want.
I have one very fast Courier with 35Ly jump range modded. It is 788 m/s fast. It can carry everything you need for exploration. With a planetary landing hangar it will be quite a bit slower.

When you equip a grade 1 Low Emission Power Plant, it wont heat up too much during fuel scooping.

I did a 1000Ly test exploration in a Courier and it is lovely for this job. But I have to admint that I did my SagA trip in a Clipper :D

It can do quite well, once engineered. My combat build has 25ly jump range, so for short trips it's not bad.

Thanks you two, I'll see what I can do, I'll wait until Tuesday, so I can play the Beta 2.2

If you really strip it back you'll get a standard ship up just past 30ly on an empty tank, but you have to be brutal about it. It's a phenomenal little fighter, though.

Any chance of a few coriolis builds here for reference?

Well, I'm no expert for the Courier, but I like the ship and so far it has served me well. Of all the smaller ships the Courier is my favourite, though the Cobra Mk III is probably the more useful ship on paper. I do have a preference for Imperial ships, though.

Here is my build. Focus is being light, but not overdoing it only to max out speed. You can build her lighter, but I don't want to sacrifice too much.

The two lowest internal slots can be replaced as required. I occasionally swap the FSD out for a SRV hangar or a bigger fuel tank for longer travel. Even got her out to Maia yesterday and it was surprisingly painless.
The ship becomes so much better with some Engineer tweaking, especially dirty drive tuning. Got her to ~400 base speed and ~585 boost speed, but every ton cargo carried has a drastic impact.

There are better mission ships and better combat ships. But the Courier is remarkably versatile for its size and price.

Once I'm home from my current Sag A trip I'm thinking about parking my Asp for awhile. I'm seriously considering retrofitting my Courier and taking a trip to a sector ~6000ly away and doing an in depth ELW search.
