Imperial cutter a hunk o junk.......

OMG i grinded for weeks to get the money and rank to buy this to say its a dissapointment is an understatment....

after spending close to a billion cr a ton of mats....even fully A rated and fully engineered its still a lumbering piece o crap OMG i'm in shock .....................what were they thinking releasing this * as a "big 3" end game ship........

The turn rate in every axis is horrendous the type 9 and 10 turns almost as fast even with FA off and full pips to the engines.......i was getting out turned by a bloody anaconda lol had to laugh at that man i was eating condas for breakfast in the Vette.........i could even sit at a standstill in the Vette and just rotate around my own central axis and wipe anything out that came close....

Despite having superior thrusters by the time its gets moving its already too late lol........i'd dread facing a Vulture or small engineered ship they'd run ring round you.......

The only thing that this ship does well is sit like a fat piece of crap and absorb fire, the shields and hull are great....but sadly that won't win battles.....

so sad........a lovely looking ship like an idiot i even bought the ship kit and fancy paintjobs lol..... a total piece of junk.......for the most expensive ship in the game its a disgrace, a crying bloody shame.........the Imperial Clipper is awesome in comparision i grinded my Empire rank out over 3 weeks in an A rated and Engineered clipper with no issues even taking on the big 3.........why i thought the Cutter would be similar i don't know, they're like chalk and cheese man..........

All i can say is i hope the Empire don't expect to win any future battles against the Federation.......or anybody for that matter lol

My Vette which is also A rated and Fully Engineered would wipe the floor with this hunk o junk, matter of fact i'd wipe the floor with two of em and some change in the Vette..................can't believe how bad this thing is, feels almost as bad as losing my first anaconda in battle ....another hunk o junk but no match to this......phew rant over....back to the Vette.

Sadly there is simple nothing in the game to match the Vette, pound for pound its the best ship in the game, for sure the king of the big 3.....ahem the big one more like as the other two are useless in combat lol.......

And before anybody starts with the git gud crap i already am good lol not PVP good but good enough to kick lumps out of any NPC in the game...i can sit in a Threat 7 pirate zone in the Vette all day long tanking elite and deadly NPC'S which is what i do to collect mats........barely even losing 2 bars on my shields

Also some are gonna say its not really a combat ship etc...etc....but its marketed as the Empires replacement to the Federation corvette ,............and it bloody well costs enough mullah to buy and outfit

now i realise what you guys were telling me when i lost my first conda the big ships cept for the vette are just a liability in fast paced combat

Vette rules...gonna sell this hunk o crap tommoro

I eat crayons and paint chips and even I have the common sense to look at videos on YouTube about ships I need to grind for ages to get. The Cutter is an awesome trader / miner, that's it's forte bro.

The big hunk of junk is the best hauler/cargo runner in the game , its a lumbering behemoth but this has the advantage of giving zero cares while under fire plus it can easily outrun shield buster torpedoes.

If you need to transport anything through dangerous territory then this big puppy will do the job with little issues. Its not designed for combat although in the right hands it can slug with the best of them.

Underestimate a cutter at your own peril , small ships should always have the advantage of running rings around it but easily countered by boosting away, turning on a 180 an FA off backwards flight with 4 pips to shields and opening up on the firepower.

The only issue is managing the drift which isnt much of an issue once you learn to use it to your advantage and listen for the engine speed changing and know when to throttle back or power back on again..

Its a great ship but one that needs practice flying to get the most from.

yeah, what he said -^

a lot of cmdrs are dangerous in cutters. maybe it's just not your style, that's ok, then sell it and think of all the rebuys you can burn through with that capital! :D

Good lord. That grammar bro.... .... ANYHOW. It's a container ship with guns and lipstick. It hauls slaves and stinky cheese for imperial snobs who chuckle with a nasally voice. Not sure why you thought bigger was better. It rams the hardest though.

A lot of CMDRs fall victim to the "bigger must be better" mentality. The forum has many threads with stories of how underwhelming CMDRs found the Cutter and Corvette to be, after the CMDR had ground (grinded?) for weeks or months to get one. Before you sell it though, consider these points:

It is the best space-truck in the game. The Cutter can haul more cargo than any other ship.

It can be a very good combat ship when flown by a competent pilot. It is just that, as a very large ship, combat in a Cutter requires totally different tactics than combat in any of the "small" ships.

It can be a very effective explorer, with enough room to carry any and all of the explorer toys. SRV, SLF, redundant AFMU, scanners, etc., etc., and weapons and enough power to run it all.

People even go Thargoid hunting in them. There are many different jobs the Cutter can do well and it will look good while doing all of them.

Another consideration is this: if you sell it you will basically be throwing away 21 million credits.

For me, that last one alone would be enough reason to park it in the Hangar until I could learn to fly it effectively.

Once you take the time to learn how to fly a Cutter effectively your attitude to the Cutter might change. I also found the Cutter to be very under-whelming when I first got one and my first Cutter sat in the hangar for about 3 months before I bothered to make use of it. Now:

I just cruised my turretboat cutter through three high-intensity CZs this morning. No issues with it at all. Sure it doesn't hit as hard as my corvette. If you want to take your cutter into a fight and try to turnfight with it you will lose hard.

If you really want to take a combat cutter, where it excels is as a support ship. I slapped a healbeam on the nose and long range pulse turrets on everything else, a repair limpet controller, a gigantic shield, and then I take it in when I'm with a wing.
Don't play DPS. Play tank.

It absolutely will win battles if the opposing side are too busy focusing on throwing themselves against the brick wall you provide for them to actually pose a threat to your allies, who are subsequently freed up to fly far more aggressively than they'd otherwise be able to.

I have to ask, why did you put in all this effort? What exactly were you expecting?

If you wanted an "endgame" trading ship, then the Cutter certainly does that.
If you wanted an exploration alternative to the Anaconda, the Cutter does that too, although not as well due to the lower jump range.
If you wanted a combat alternative to the Corvette, then you should have realized that the Cutter is not really designed as a combat ship, although it is certainly good at tanking damage with the right shield setup due to the large internals.

The Empire, unlike the Federation, does not generally build pure combat ships. They prefer to project "soft power" with ships that are suitable for trading and have the speed to avoid combat when desired, i.e., for blockade running or escaping interdictions. You should have probably realized this from flying the Clipper which, compared to the Python, is not really designed as a combat ship either.

You really should have understood what you were buying instead of expecting something completely different for no particular reason.

Another one of those beginners who cant handle a big Girl. You need to be a decent pilot to make a Cutter work in Combat. You need to know your strengths and your weaknesses. With that, you can beat every Ship in the Game. it just takes longer. Think of a MMORPG-Tank. They can eat a lot of Damage but the Damage output is lower.

Love mine, its a great hauler. When you need to haul the mail, this baby is the ship for you. Takes some practice to fly around gracefully and quick. I wheel that baby through the slot and right over to the pad like a feather in the wind. Puts me in the top 10% of hauling CG's every single time, no sweat.

Mines sitting in a dock un-equipped and un-engineered.
I only have it because I decided to buy every ship. Just so I can say "I got one of them too" anytime a m8 mentions a ship model :)
Might outfit it one day if I need to run a gauntlet or something. Until then Moth balls.

My Clipper would disagree with thatt. Hull tanked with bi-weaves with that experimental that gives an additional 15% recarge. Throw on some gimballed (due to horrific HP convergence) rapid fire frags one incendiary, one corrosive, one with drag munitions, and the last being whatever you want. With that general set up you have one hell of a Hunter-Killer. It's meant to pick and choose what fights I want to engage in. I interdict, and ram/frag them to death. The ship itself is a weapon and those frags at point blank range are brutal. If a fight is too much for me, I just leave. If my shields get too low, I can kite the enemy ship until my bi-weaves fully recharge. Comfortable in the knowledge that I have both a speed tank and ample hull tank.

Anything that can harm me, can't catch me. And anything that can catch me can't harm me. With the exception of another Clipper (Maybe a Mamba?). This gives me the luxury of being able to only choose fights I can win, while entirely avoiding those I can't.

Cutters are great.

Could go mad Max armored transport, but it's much better at basking while shield tanking fire.

But yeah. I wouldnt fly that POS even if it was funding me IRL.

Nope. No chance, No thankyou, Never, Pass, Not interested. Did I say nope?

One thing that kills Clippers in mere seconds of sniffing at them.

Railgunzzzz. SR G3/4, let the Clipper get close as they need to for succesful shots, and pipe your rails down the centerline. Even with MRP's every single core module is along that length and you can effectively cake the entire ship with relatively little effort.

And so I disengage and perform a "Tactical Withdrawal"

AKA

LBdMmF9
LBdMmF9
RUN AWAY!

Though I always check the target ship's modules. Now if I see rails I just won't engage ;)
