Is the Imperial Eagle worth buying if I'm looking for a small fighter or would I be better off just buying the normal Eagle MkII?

Imperial eagles are super tiny. If you want a small fighter I'd get a courier or a vulture. They're still small, but they don't explode when you sneeze on them.

I mean, if you like it, it's ok just to buy because even a completely decked out one is going to cost barely anything. The smallest I'd go personally is a Viper MK3.

I'd start with a regular eagle since its a bit cheaper, just to get a feel for the ship. Bounty hunt in the low res zones and only shoot wanted targets who are already under fire from the security ships.

Or use it as an interceptor in wing combat. I have done that many times. It can harass and annoy your opponents while partners in bigger ships draw fire. It is a fine little ship if you know it's purpose. Which is not soloing capital ships, but fire support. Think the X wings of ED lol

I love flying it around for fun, I will only engage in combat with it if I am in a wing.

Or P-51 in WWII. To op, I'd personally never use it outside of as a racing ship due to it's high speed(mine hits 454 boost speed) and(with Horizon) it's abillity to use C3 Enhanced Thrusters to go even faster.

Pretty much this.

It can be easily be used as a solo ship, but you'll take a while to kill big stuff.

I run a shieldless i Eagle. It's a fantastically fun little ship, but very unforgiving. If you make a mistake you are dead.

So fast and so maneuverable though. <3

Imperial Eagle is beautiful, faster and has a bigger weapon mount, but sacrifices some manouverability. It's an impulse purchase. You know you want to FLY THAT NASTY HOT ROD!

I love my Imperial Eagle. It hits above its weight class because of the larger hardpoint. I stuck enhanced thrusters on it and it now cruises at 400 and boosts to 530. It's tiny, yes, and all that goes with that, but it's like a sports car. It's becoming my favorite ship.

Plus it just looks wicked.

I just flew mine today with one gimbal beam, one fixed beam (small ships are a pain), and plasma.

Wing up or tag along with security and enjoy the mayhem. If things get heavy, boost away and live to fight another day.
