Imperial / Empire Rank progression seems... easy??

So, in the past 2 days (the weekend essentially) I've been searching for and doing Naval Progression missions which have been great, however...

I have managed to go through all the Ranks to Lord status, which is really cool finding out what ranks you can get.

For those that are interested, the ranks I've found so far are as follows :

Imperial Rank 0 - None
Imperial Rank 1 - Outsider
Imperial Rank 2 - Serf
Imperial Rank 3 - Master - Access to Achenar Permit (Added 7-1-15)
Imperial Rank 4 - Squire
Imperial Rank 5 - Knight
Imperial Rank 6 - Lord - Access to Summerland Permit (Added 7-1-15)
Imperial Rank 7 - Baron (Added 21-12-2014 23:44)
Imperial Rank 8 - Viscount (Added 22-12-2014 20:55)
Imperial Rank 9 - Count (Added 30-12-2014 16:51) - Access to Facece Permit (Added 7-1-15)

The thing is, at rank 3 I was given a mission to report to Achenar and regional task force HQ. Once I arrived, nothing happened... so I went to a USS, bounced around every station in the system (bear in mind there are 8!) but no missions to continue what I THOUGHT would be story driven quests and progress and further interest in the Elite universe.

So I continued to do a few more missions based in this system and general exploration and eventually it would offer me a further Naval progression mission, which took me from Squire to Master to Knight and then eventally Lord (Rank 6). Once I hit this I seemingly got a another Imperial Summons to go to Summerland, or rather I've just been given the access permit... Again, I thought "Splendid, ill head over there" to find nothing of real interest or missions to progress...

Have I missed something? Is this content "on its way"?

Has anyone else experienced this? Be interested to find out what people have done or any story missions :)

The "summon missions" are just a way to notify you, that you just got a permit to the mentioned system. I would say its "work in progress".

Heh had the exact same experience, went around Achenar looking where that "Secret Communique" they spoke of is, eventually got the rank Knight mission from an independent "Anarchy" station on Coastakel (or something like that, near Achenar)... Weird :p

Yeah it's bizzare isn't it? However, I am certinaly not complaining on the rank and the progression, just content that seems to be missing!

Does it matter they're easy? They serve no purpose other than giving you access to BUY a ship at the earlier levels. They seem to be the Elite equivalent of achievement oriented titles. Pretty pointless really, which is fine by me. They don't affect the enjoyment of my game one way or the other based on what we currently know about them, which of course isn't much.

Oh i'm loving every moment of this game, just want to feel like i'm getting noticed by the higher ups or something. The Elite ranking is what matters in the end. :)

Currently I view the rank progression missions as a real wasted opportunity to flesh out the military side of E: D. Would have been nice to have a range of delivery, propaganda, patrol, covert spying (photography), covert strike, deep strike, control (e.g. we'll raise you a rank if you and your friends can destabilise this federal system to the point of war in 100 hours - bonus for doing it in less time) and full on fleet action missions. Oh well, here's to a reset or future expansions.

The stuff you have to do to gain ranks in the navy are riduculous. The first one was OK (deliver a message) but then it was basically all haul stuff from A to B or bring us prohibied goods. Only once I had to do military stuff (kill General Pratchett) which was a challenge. Now I am Lord, only Friendly with the Empire, have permits for Achenar and Summerland and am quite dissapointed it is so easy and boring.

I understand the "work in progress" situation, there should be no ranks if they are not implemented properly. Ruins a bit of the fun to gain reputation with the Navy.

I'm still going to enist everyone ingame call me His Lordship though, or it's off with there head!

Achievement oriented titles without you know... the actual achievement?

It did feel way to easy - a really do hope they make the Rank Missions more challenging so you at least feel like you've earned the Title.

Not just turned up at the Court social and got a Lordship in your gift bag with a greeting card, boutique soap and a Toblerone.

By the way the 7th Rank in the Empire is the much coveted, Baron - the needed rank to be able to purchase the Imperial Clipper.

My thoughts exactly - much wasted.

I would have loved to have been sent to the front line for a mission, being involved in a combat zone - kill x amount of ships and rescue a hauler to get a promotion.

What the heck guy's? I am definitely doing this all wrong, started a topic about it yesterday. So far.. 2 day's ago I parked my Type-7 near Hip 22500, bought a Cobra.

Have been helping the Imperial Cap ship at the warzone, fighting Elite Anaconda's, hauling stupid amounts of Combat Stabilizers, non Lethal Weapons across 100LY for 'Rank Progression' I am still at Zero rank! :/

All I want is a damn Clipper, I have 60Million in the Bank.. I don't get how some of you progressed rank so quickly, mine is not moving : (

Yeah someways appear to be very different on how to progress. I have noticed that these Naval Rank Progression oppertunities are definatly coming from the Bulletin Board in stations owned by the Imperials / Empire. Usually they come from a specific faciton that currently skips my mind.

One little tip I will give everyone, is that once you get a Naval Progression Rank from say, a High Tech station - MOVE to another station that has a different economy, like Industrial or Extraction or Refinery or Service (There are 8 different industries I have found so far), you have more chance of these missions coming up.

Dont stick to one station or system :)

I have progressed ranks so quickly that I don't have the money to keep up. I did many missions primarily for a couple of factions in one system making sure they were empire. At some point they started throwing Rank Upgrade missions at me like christmas candy. The only way to rank up is by getting a special mission that improves your rank. It should be a very obvious name. I can only speculate that I got those missions by helping and becoming friendly with Empire factions. The mission that "sends you to Achenar" simply gave me the Achenar permit. I haven't even gone there to check it out yet. I'll probably do that tomorrow.

I literally did all of mine from no rank to baron in about 90 mins. I feel like they should be much more difficult, as they are now it doesn't feel like I accomplished much at all. Couple of fetch quests really. The worst was one that sent me to another station in the same system to buy two units of grain, which was sold at that station..

I literally got promoted in the empire for traveling .2 ls and spending less than 200cr.

I think these should be re worked to be much more difficult. Like smuggle 10 slaves to 3 different stations each 40 ly apart from each other without getting caught and then kill an elite anaconda with a cobra wing supporting it. You have 48 hours. Failure costs 100,000cr. That would be something you really have to work for and couldn't do without the right ships and lots of cash. Might make the ranks have more meaning.

As it is now, with the exception of the one combat mission (which wasn't that hard at all) the whole thing can be done by anyone in any ship at any time, literally a sidewinder with no shields and loaned pulse lasers is fine for running all the way up to baron in less time than it takes to watch a movie.

Was the combat mission to kill Gen. Patterson (Or whatever her name was?) She flies an Imperial Clipper - probably only killable by a Viper or Cobra upwards, but yeah I COMPLETELY agree... it was far too easy and far too lacking in content... Work in progress appears to be a moot factor in this, because its by now, blinking obvious.

90 minutes is impressive though - you should have videod it and put it up on that game speed runs website haha

The shame about this permit mission is, yes that it gives you the permit but its not a mission to go anywhere or pop into a perticular station - if it was changed to "Head to Dawes Hub orbiting our Capitol for your rank award ceremony", so giving you a task, but its a badly worded mission text for - "here, have a permit for your continued loyalty".

I am kind of surprised advancement would be so easy. Would be cool if Naval progression past say, Serf was abit more complex. Perhaps an invisible points system so that u needed to do atleast 5-10 missions to advance one rank. Advancing to knight was easier than the previous one (with the Clipper) Killing pirate ships is like target practice. An easy fix would be to make those 'pirate USS' have the pirate ships gang up on you, hostile at entering (no 10 second of scan first to reveal their intention) or atleast make them have shields :)
