I'd much rather that the Imps had a decent explorer ship.
1 new ship, that fits on medium pads.
I propose a variant Clipper, with a more militant purpose, designed to act as a light carrier, with a fighter bay [...]
I'd like to see an Imperial ship that fits on the medium landing pad. Perhaps with retracting engine nacelles. I've suggested in the past making such a ship a Clipper variant, but now I think it's better to go with an entirely new architecture, with lines that find the middle-ground between Courier and Clipper. [...] I wouldn't suggest too much armament, 3 or 4 class 2 weapons, or 2 class 2 and 1 class 3. Internals most similar to the Asp X.
Finally, I'd like to see a slightly smaller, short-body variant of the Cutter, built for exploration, having the shorter fuselage shown in the concept art, and the simplified engine arrangement, but at the cost of it's class 4 hardpoint (moving one of it's class 3 hardpoints to the belly) Better lateral thrusters allow it to land in high-g worlds, but agility is a secondary quality. [...] Properly fitted, it would have greatest jump range in the game, but would be expensive.
i don't think any of the imp ships should be able to fit luxury cabins, would be zero point in the liners then.
All or most of that for the Hunter perhaps?

Shorter with potentially retractable nacelles to fit on medium.
Body potentially bulky enough to fit a bay like the Keelback (second imperial ship with a fighter then - bulkier than the sleek/long Clipper body, which I think is too thin for this).
"not too much armament" - easy
Internals probably closer to the Asp scout (or Keelback) rather than the explorer.
Nacelles turn similar to the Keelback for better lateral thrust.
Decent/exploration jump range. Sure.
It's all there.
edit: the cargo bay seen sticking out in the profile would probably have to move further to the front for the fighter hatch to fit behind it.
I see the Hunter as about the same size/weight as a Vulture.
Also, with the sharper angles to it's lines and less decadent styling, hopefully not faction locked to Imperials either.
won't be much use for the dolphin once you can get a clipper though will there when you can do what it does in whats basically a combat ship. besides if you are forced to carry VIPs in non combat ships the reward can be tailored to the risk, especially when you get up to beluga size.I'd say if the Clipper got to fit lux cabins, it could only match a dolphin's in size. Not across all of it's internals.

Yeah, I guess I could get tactical ice for the Conda. But it would be missing the blue![]()
you're in luck then because all ships can fit passenger cabins, but only the liners can fit luxury cabinsI don't know, its all down to prestige eh? Mercedes make cars, and some of their cars, though not purpose built, are luxury enough to be used as limousines.
The same applies to ANY ship in game, that fits that bill.
I'd say a Type9 would not be a popular choice for passengers as its just not built for luxury. A Clipper or a Courier could be? I'd be happy for some of the more luxury ships to be able to carry passenger cabins. I'd take it on a case by case basis...
That's the ship lighting, not something you would get in a paint job.
In either case, concur that it's a great design aspect of the imperial ships. The blue lights work against so many paint jobs and on the cutter turn red with HPs out for extra "oooooooh" factor.
Not with ship kits.
Exactly what I was thinking. In order to add superpower variation the ship kits could be used. This would be a great addition that I'd happily paid for. After all, I bought the Tactical Ice skin for my Anaconda purely to make it look more 'Empire'.![]()
