Newcomer / Intro important questions

great game, but difficult as old elite frontier...

i have a questions:

1: how i can be in a faction? (i want Empire)
2: how can i hunt pirates? i travel to destination. going to signals, and always are ships like FEDERATION, or ANARCHY. how i can identify a pirate!?
3: how i can interdict a ship? always be in this tail but no "J" key or something to stop.

thx friends

1. Do missions for them (Liaedin is a fairly close Empire system)
2. Simply put, if they're wanted you can shoot them down and cash in the voucher at a local station (Kill Warrant scanner requires more explanation so if you're using that let me know)
3. You need a frame shift interdicter which can be purchased at a station's Outfitting menu.

1) If you mean in general, by completing missions and raising rep. If you mean in a conflict zone, then you select the faction on the panel on the right hand side when you jump into the zone

2) Target them and check if it says WANTED in the target window, bottom left. Some more equipment can help here too - Kill Warrant Scanner

3) You need specialist equipment for interdictions - buy them in the Outfitting section of stations.

1. I believe (although I haven't done this yet) that you can choose your faction in the right hand Status panel when you're involved in a particular kind of mission (at a conflict point?). Someone more knowledgeable should confirm this tho.

2. Pirate hunting missions often list several systems to look in. I've often found I have to visit them all before finding any (hence the "hunt" I suppose). When you target ships at USS (or nav beacons? - aside: do wanted ships at nav beacons count as pirate kills? anyone?) you'll see them being scanned in the panel over on the left. If they show up as WANTED ... let 'em have it!

1. This is only for Conflict Zones and nowhere else.

2. Yes, wanted ships at nav beacons count as kills (pirate or not).
