Improvements Feedback

Here's some suggestions to improve the game based on the gameplay footage:

- Plants shouldn't poke through the roads
- The feeder structure should show a dark hole in the ground when it's being replenished. The video shows a green surface.
- Add more variety to the guests. (I noticed it's improved in this official gameplay video).
- Improve mouse controls of the tranquilizer gun while in the helicopter
- Add optional male dinosaurs. Please make this a DLC.
- Add feathery dinosaur skins.
- Increase vegetation draw distance on PC so there's less noticeable popups.
- Let us place individual rocks, plants, logs, sand on the island.
- When guests enter a building the doors should open.
- Optional blood and gore
- Aquatic and flying dinosaurs. Not sure if those are in the base game.
- Day night cycle for all islands. It seems like each island is set at a different time of day. A full day night cycle is more realistic.
- More biomes like swamp, savannah and arid.
- Baby dinosaurs
- More decorative items to customize the park

I can pretty much guarantee there will be no male dinos (which is fine with me) Frontier said that they want to stick very closely to the JP lore, which means no male dinos.
EDIT- I read your other post on male dinos and how they do exist in the lore but that is only on sorna, maybe if we get a site B mode we can get male dinos to help replenish the population automatically.

I'd like to think that most of your suggestions are already going to be in the final release - this was a dev build after all so things like plant clipping on paths, lack of holes in feeders etc (all over general visual aspects) will all be improved on and smoothed out come June

Better herbivore / carnivore interactions for me. There was a gameplay video that showed a ceratosaurus, triceratops and struthiomimus just peacefully coexisting. That shouldn’t happen. I saw a few ceratosaurus kills where the struthiomimus just stood there and got eaten. No running or anything.

At least in JPOG there was panic from the herbivores when near a carnivore. The triceratops would awkwardly charge their adversary. If there’s one thing they fix pre-release, it would be this in my opinion.

I agree, there didn't seem to be much of a need to separate the herbivores and carnivores, but for gameplay it would add some urgency for the player to make sure they're kept separated and increase the fear factor of the carnivores.

Agreeing with many above, couple of (little things) that crossed my brain were;
Ability to bury power lines (an expensive maybe non-undoable thing to do)
Small randomising size difference between individuals of same species.
Land the helicopter??

I agree with everything except the feathers and the male dinosaurs. I want day and night cycles. I also want blood and to see my Dinosaurs eat chunks of meat when they kill something. Come on Frontier I preordered the deluxe version.

Also at one point I saw a plant go through one of the Dinosaurs tail. They need to fix the clipping on the tails or something. Also in the gaming beaver video it was said that carnivores wouldn't go after the ranger jeep. This needs to be fixed before release. The carnivores should go after all the vehicles, if they get to close. In the books and movies they chased vehicles all the time.

bury power lines - yes please :)

Personally I'd had gone with buried lines from the get go. I don't remember any visual power lines in the movies. Plus I'd love see power bunkers as well as (but honestly, instead of) the relays. I don't remember getting a look at any kind of power substations in JW, but obviously the maintenance shed from JP is infamous. maintenance bunkers like that near paddocks i think would be pretty sweet too, they could serve as backup power for fences, and you could have a large emergency bunker for backup power

argh... so many ideas and wishes are floating through my mind now. This is why I wanted an alpha buy in, and i really hope there's a great expansion outside of the gameplay we've seen so far because while a lot of things might not necessarily break the game, they'd certainly be sorely missed

I was thinking the same thing. Why no buried power lines. My neighborhood has them so why not the most advanced park in the world? It should at least be a more expensive option. Use the cheaper above ground power lines at first then upgrade to below ground power lines later.

We need the ability to place single trees or at least a small group of them. Only giving us the option to be able to create thick forests is pretty limited. The terrain tools seemed really simplified. I knew this would happen cause consoles.

-Different Guest models and improved Guest AI
-Terrain tools are awesome, but seem limited (hopefully its because they don't want to show it off yet): rocks, individual trees, sand or swamps. It may get a little repetitive if you have every exhibit looking the same. Maybe you want a pseudo-desert exhibit with sand and palms, idk lol.
-I could be mistaken, but it looks like there are only a few buildings right now, again, it could be because of the early build. But, I'm expecting cosmetic structures like statues, fountains, flowerbeds, etc.

Better guest design and animation
Ability to add rocks, plants and trees
Cosmetic items like statues and fountains
Stop grass poking through paths
Herbivores flee from carnivores

-I want to see blood and gore, nothing extreme of course but just enough to have that realistic effect.
-Better visitor AI
-I want to see mainly visitors. After all, it is a theme park. In Jurassic World we didn't see armies of Mercs and Scientists walking around the park. Sprinkling in mercs and scientists here and there throughout the park while the guests being the predominant people in the game would be better in my opinion.
-Herbivores/Goats running from Carnivores unless it's a very aggressive and territorial herbivore like an ankylosaurus or triceratops, etc.
-Swallowing animations. When I saw a cerato eat a goat the goat just disappeared.
-Carnivores chasing herbivores/goats/guests and snatching them up like we saw in JPOG and the announcement trailer for JWE when the trex broke out and ate the worker.
-More terrain tool options. I mainly would like to see rocks and an option to make water deeper if that's a possibility.

I know it was a development build so all of these things can still be improved upon before release. We still have around 2 months before release. Can't wait for the game!

We need:

-Day/night cycles (this is basically a must)
-Better guest variety and AI. The AI looked pretty bad.
-A first person camera mode
-Blood added. It looks bizarre without it and isn't even lore-friendly
-customisation of enclosure; being able to place down individual trees etc

The biggest one for me is a lack of day/night cycles. That desicion boggles my mind. And not only are there not Day/night cycles, but there is just perpetual dusk, dawn, night on certain islands. Unless the story is incorporating into this I genuinely don't understand the thought process.

The dev who was showing the game to the GB said there was no reason why they couldn't implent it and that the reason why they hadn't was to differentiate the islands. This seems bizarre to me and a little bit lazy compared to the obvious effort they've put into everything else. Please just make the island geographically different or add new threats to each island or something!

The reason why we're saying these things is that this game could be absolutely phenomenal and literally everything we've always wanted. It just seems as though there are some fundamentally bad design choices being made. Please listen to us.

Perfectly said.

I second this. The game is amazing and it would be awful to see it damaged by a few small bad choices. If there is a free play mode where we can build a park as we please I hope it has a day and night cycle. Give us an option to set the time of day and lighting like in Planet Coaster in this free play mode. That doesn't mean I don't want any restrictions. I would still like it if I had to make my park financially viable in this free play/sandbox mode.

Please add AI's Behaviors on the list because it had bunch of issues that need to be improve before it release and for my opinion its the real main issue since Jurrasic franchise should be about dinos,
like:

- Individual dinos AI behaviors ( they seems weird when they run little bit then just stop their move immediately , over and over again or when herbivores completly ignore the predators around them even if it the dangerous one to their species, Struthios v carnos for exams ).

- Hunting behaviors (when predators supposed to be hunt but herbivores got a 'brain freeze' and not even to try to escape their precious life so it got killed easliy by it ).

- Herds behaviors (they just look in herds but not actually 'move in herds' or have herds mentally like in the franchise. For exams: I want to see Gallimimus run in herds like in JP1 when they'r got chased by Rexy or like on Gallimimus scene on Gallimimus valley like in JW or Hadrosaurid herds try to move away from Raptors pack like in JP3).

- Fighting Behaviors (its kinda old way to see dinos fighting each other with ' bite per bite' style like back in JPOG before one of them run (the champions not even try to chase the lossers ) or trigger the killing animation. I want to see some simple but creative way animation during the fight animation like in Spino v Rex in jp3 or Indo v Rexy , Blue in JW).

also it will be good if they improve the guests AIs behaviors and skin (like, come on..!! even scienties wont wear lab coats during vacation ).

I know if i ask much but since this game had a lot potential and still need to be improved, then not doubt that Frontier can do the task.

A while ago I was working with a small team to develop an improved version of JP:OG. It would have included the base game and two expansion packs. For anyone interested in the ideas we came up with for the content a game like this should have, you can check it out below. The first working document was for the base game, the second for the two expansion packs. (Note: they were never fully fleshed out, and the species lists are unfinished)

Main Game

Expansion Packs

Personally I think a lot of what we came up with would do wonders for this game.

We need to see carnivorous/aggressive dinos attack the 4×4. It needs to be a stressful moment when you must send in your team by jeep to clean up the poop or replenish the food. I think we should have the helicopter sedate the dinos and then the team can safely go in and do what must be done. Imagine the 4×4 going into the Indominus Rex's paddock and the Indominus not attacking the Jeep! This needs to be corrected to add to the stress of running your very own JP.

Better herbivore / carnivore interactions for me. There was a gameplay video that showed a ceratosaurus, triceratops and struthiomimus just peacefully coexisting. That shouldn’t happen.

Actually it does happen in captivity. Ever been to an aquarium with the underwater tunnels where they keep sharks in with turtles and all sorts of prey fish? Acknowledging that many sharks hunt at dusk/night it probably still isn't a problem because they're kept well fed. What was the line from JP2 carnivores only hunt when they're hungry?

In theory if the mechanical feeders are working you could argue opposite that carnivores should never go for the herbivores. Much less effort to catch the goat. I think this is how it would work actually.
