Improvements for Xbox One

This is a great game with great potential. I'd love to see some improvements develop before the game is officially released.

One improvement would be the ability to set personal toggle combinations. Meaning, I would like to be able to customize which buttons preformed certain tasks. Also, since I'm unable to play at the moment due to the servers being down, I have not found a way to toggle flight assist without going into the menu on the ship. Having the option to tether flight assist to the left thumbstick (pressed) would open up a whole new strategy for flying and maneuverability. At this time, are there plans in motion to allow the freedom to customize controller layouts the same way PC has the ability to fully customize their setups?

Anyone else have some suggestions on how this game could be improved for Xbox?

P.S. - as a side note or FYI, many of my friends are reluctant to buy this game because you can't get out of your ship. Maybe you could add a social element to the game and allow players to customize a pilot and exit the craft at certain docking stations to make improvements to your ship, pick up bounties, etc... - just a suggestion...

I think they want Destiny. And thankfully Elite: Dangerous in nothing like Destiny.

I have a suggestion to create not just session 'wings' but semi permanent 'squadrons' where a percentage of credits earned goes into a pool, say 5%, which could help offset rebuy costs, or an ammo cache. Also it would be cool to have your own motto, and perhaps even logo (much like Battlefield 4 creator?) The top Commanders of your squadron would be able to affiliate you with the galactic powers ect. Also I really like the idea of a social aspect where you could get out of you ship and interact with other pilots.

Planetary landings and moving around your ship will be added at a later date, FDev just finished coding powerplay and are still trying to work the bugs out of it. But those additions were promised back during the original kickstarter I believe

Warframe has a similar system in their Clans. i think it would make a great addition. you can be just a group of friends or your clan could be mercenaries. miners. whatever. i would like to see something like this implemented and see what people would do with it.

You could even implement several types of players, so fighter pilots could watch miners and traders backs, or just organise pirate/bounty hunting sorties, or even start small system wars within wars!

I think before ANYTHING ELSE, they need to FIX the TERRIBLE FRAME RATES! The XB1 is quite capable of running games far more graphically complex than Elite at a solid/locked 30fps. Some games that have a crack development team can even get a solid and locked 60fps out of this hardware.

That begs the question.... WHY does a game that basically displays the graphic equivalent of a late 80s Star Trek screen saver bog this console down to single digit frame rates most of the time? All of the time if when jumping to another system, or calling up a map while in SuperCruise!

If this game has any chance to breaking through to the mainstream console buying public, it MUST RUN at a locked 30fps or higher! Otherwise, the game is going to get garbage review scores and all those on the fence are going to bail. That would be a real shame since if Elite flops on the XB1, that will likely spell the end of the entire Space Sim genre on this console, which has been sorely absent from console IP choices for decades!

I say we push Frontier to work on the graphics engine FIRST, and worry about all the various minutia later.

Agreed, I've been hoping for a space sim on console and when I heard ED was taking that chance I was so excited and now it's here and I love it bug's and all. Though I obviously want it fixed it's still an amazing experience. I prefer this game to No Man's Sky anyday, NMS just look's far too cartoony for my taste.

+1 this game is awesome. If I had to ask for a fix it would be the training missions need serious work half the time i was fumbling around in the dark figuring stuff out because the video in the link wouldn't play. and when I tried to actually see the button layout it didn't give you the info you need like "press and holding X give blah and blah that sort of thing.

another would be an easier time setting up a supercruise or hyperdrive course that actually works.

I know your saying words but but I just don't know what your saying ;). seriously though cargo slider?

When you're in Galaxy Map tap RB untill you'll see a soundbar looking slider(small at start and grows). If you haven't bought cargo yet you can use the slider to set routes that'll not be too far for your FSD plus there are two baxesa bove it to choose either a fast route or an economicle one.

Enable/Disable Flight Assist on the defaults is B+RB. If you hold down A X B or Y in space, the secondary functions popup onto the screen (unfortunately not the primary functions!)

There are a couple of unused combinations. I'd like A+RB to be "select next system in route", which makes sense as A has all the Hyperspace stuff on it. It speeds up exploration a lot, but most importantly speeds up escape from combat. Going to the left panel is too slow.

I haven't sussed out all of the controls yet, but they are pretty good. I can't wait for the first patch release. Hopefully it'll sort out some of the basic problems. Overall, not a bad job for a first compile on an alien platform.

Things I'd like to see:

1) The option to invert Head Look (I can't use this in it's current state)
2) A companion app to use with Xbox SmartGlass which allows hot keys to be used
3) Screen chopping (a request from my friend who has part of his screen cut off)
