In case you wonder why you get ganked in open

Since FD in it's infinite wisdom made the decision to allow power play and the BGS to be influenced by solo/pg players, people who bought this game and have a competitive mind set have to create their own toys in this sandbox, because the toys provided are not worth playing.
So, ED-PvP discord bot has been created. It checks the journal files and keeps a record of how many kills and deaths a commander has, and other bits and pieces of info about the combat carrier.
It looks like this:
View attachment 180105

What this means is that you can forget about the illusion that your death was unnecessary and that your killer got nothing out of it.
So next time your shieldless mining vessel gets killed with hundreds of tons of LTDs in it, or your months long exploration trip ends in disaster because you failed to plan your trip right and somebody was kind enough to point it out for you, you don't have to get mad anymore and wish cancer on the entire family of that space jockey. Just take a big breath and be happy for that guy who has now another point on his/her kill sheet, and you can be proud of yourself that you helped advance a pilot achieve things you can't even dream of yourself.

What can you do about it, you might ask.
The obvious answer would be to learn the game, use shields, build a proper ship and learn to fly it, plan your routes...but of course that is out question for someone that purchased this game to be an instant Han Solo, sporting some nice paint-job on a ship that you earned by exploiting a bug, in a few hours.
The other answer would be to pressure FD to give parts of the game that are currently neglected like Power Play and in general PvP the attention they deserve, and make stock toys in the sandbox fun and playable.

Ps: Ofc anyone access to this forum answer whatever they want, but I will ignore the usual like "i just play solo like everyone should", "you should pay for my premium xbox sub", "I will sue frontier if they do anything different from what they said in their kickstarter pitch"
It is only information for those that cannot understand why they get killed in open.
Is this bot developed by Frontier Developments?

More importantly, why is it not in the game?

See, many people don't care about a Discord bot, and this is the biggest reach I have ever seen to justify ganking.

Why not do what I do when I blow up a random Type-6? I just tell him it was funny LOL.

I freaking LOVE the OP!

FDEV needs to splash it on the front page of every single ad they run for this game.

This guy plays the game as it was DESIGNED.

Anyone have a complaint, send it to FDEV about how bad the design is and how a proper "mmo" has mechanics (that have been established for 20 years) on partitioning PVE and PVP play.

Otherwise, let this guy enjoy the game he paid for (as it is designed) and don't whine about how he plays it.

Playing the game to score points on a Discord bot is "as designed"?

Bold claim to make considering Discord wasn't launched until after ED launched.

Here's what you can do. Go be a Karen and screenshot my posts. Let FDEV know my egregious activity. If it makes you sleep better at night calling me a cheater so be it. I'll promise you that I won't be crushed. Bottom line, I'm not in Open so griefers and gankers despite their shiddy rationalizing will complain that FDEV ruined PVP. Maybe you can start another thread on why your feelings are hurt cuz Solo/PG. Or maybe even suggest a monthly fee-Open only. ;)

Secondly, I did escape his attack. He chose to continue. I left before the interdiction was complete. Get Rekt

However your analogy to PUBG or COD are woefully ignorant and unrelated.

Hope you feel better in the long run :D

Remember that episode where Q lets Picard relieve his youth? You know the one, where Picard doesn't get stabbed in the heart and becomes a real wet blanket? I love the moral of that episode.

Anywho. Just saying.

Yes, that is how you do it.

Take solo/pg as training mode for open. once you can build a ship (opened engineers), you go to open and start learning the tactics. see what works and what doesn't, learn how to counter different things. than you get a hang of it and never look back.
I feel like mining in a 700 m/s Courier now so that's what I'm gonna do.

I'll let him rest on laurels. I don't really care what "ganksoffalot" thinks of me. It's inconsequential. I play for my enjoyment, not his.

And to explain why his analogy is ignorant is simple. In COD for example, everyone is on some equal footing aside from skill. There is no starting off with an OP smg and killing home slice only armed with his fists. Not even the same comparison. But in his world it's the same. Not to mention he thinks it's something I have routinely done and worthy of banishment.
Again, if he's so bothered (he is, that's why he insists I am an egregious cheater), he can Karen up and report it. I openly admit that I didn't want to get killed defenselessy by a guy who likely drives a lifted truck but sports a small manhood. ;)

PS I am not angry at gankers sport. I couldn't careless how you get your rocks off. I just noted that the OP more or less said. We need to gank because we live meaningless lives but this game sucks cuz y'all in solo.

In Elite, everyone has the same start, and the same opportunity to learn evasive skill, proper outfitting, and sensible mode choices based on one's personal risk tolerance.

Absolutely pathetic that combat logging is the hill you've chosen to die on.

The Discord bot is simply recording kills in game. Kill count tracking and bragging about it has been a thing since the start of the game.

Thanks Cmdr. I'll just have to sleep good at night knowing my one instance gives you heartburn.

PS I evade every NPC ;) Can't say the same for PUBG or COD.

Not interested in the drama, but those stats are interesting. The average fight takes almost five minutes, and the median is well over a minute. You need +-20s for spin up and jump.

Speaking for myself, but if I were ganked it would signify to me I did something wrong.

Yep. Great episode. I suppose I can feel ok with being a wet blanket in solo. Considering how triggered my one anecdotal instance where I was unarmed. I did get away only to be brought back in. I hope it's gratifying to CMDR so and so and Thanosgrievesalot to dominate the defenseless python. PWNED

To be fair, if I were in anything combat related rig I would have given it the ol' college try.

It does remind the one time in Dark Souls I was clobbered by the guy 10 levels above me. The sweaty dude that was armorless and rolled me. He was cool though, apologized afterwards. He said he didn't realize I was 10 levels back.

I'll just have to live with the one stain on my illustrous record. To hear those to whine, you'd think I just kicked their puppy or even murdered a child. Sheesh.

Pink swearsie it won't happen again.

EDIT: FWIW my shame was simply only to illustrate why I and many others play in solo/pg. I think the happier bunch are those that learn their lessons and not make threads that self aggrandize their superior video game prowess or patronize the so called sacrificial lambs for the greater good of Ganking.

They are almost all combat ships if outfitted correctly, and none of them are combat ships if outfit for something else.
Now, some ships are better suited to combat than others. FDL, and Mamba come to mind, but almost all of them can be made a hand at combat. Type 7 excluded of course.

Pfft! Name one combat ship.
The one I make more geared for combat? I dunno, say my 'Imperial' Corvette, My Krait Mk II. Those are what I use for PVE combat. Can't say I'd take my python or even cutter into combat with simply mining lasers and prospector limpets.
Not to say that I'd do much either in PVP although the Corvette would likely last a bit longer. I never contended I could take anyone on in PVP nor do I want to. Plenty other games where I can dominate in and feel manly. This one isn't it. I made the mistake of solo in an instance where there were certainly battle hardened individuals just waiting to liberate my limpets from me. It was an FNG mistake that I won't make again.

You, or the person doing the gank. It's all the same in the black.

Seems the term gank might not be so apt here though, to be fair.

Don't mind me... I miss the good old days of rum running in Open in my Cobra Mk III. Only the best player pirates had a chance, but a chance, they did have. Worthy adversaries in a worthy game. Times have changed since then though, I'm afraid. Now, only bravado and/or incompetence remains.

Personally, I choose to err on the side of incompetence. ;)

I bask in my incompetence when it comes to PVP. I am certainly no worthy advesary either. I guess I committed a hell worthy trespass by not just giving in and letting my ship get blown to smitherines. I made a tacitcal decision. ;) I adapted and overcame. I hit eject on my disc LOL after going back into SC. A pack o hounds on a bloody a tortoise. Quite the sport in some peoples eyes.

And here I thought I was a bad pilot and need to learn the game, but OP easily takes the cake.
All this talk about attacking shieldless mining vessels in what is probably a fully engineered FDL, yet having the astonishing kill:death ratio of 66:30.
I don't even think my cat would die that often.
I do not care much about this kill board. I do my killing mostly within power play and not chasing just any kill. if you're an imp you get attacked. ed-pvp also seems to count the slf deaths and I use slf for undermining. but I admit, when I see a shieldless trader and it's not a fed I must kill it.
