"in coming months we’ll be able to talk about what’s next for Elite: Dangerous on PC and Mac too"

Thank you PC backers. Thank you for buying all the paint jobs and getting us to the point where we could release on Xbox. Which was always the plan. PC was a stop gap as we knew SC was coming out eventually. We new SC would blow ED away. Sorry all the updates this year took so long, were full of bugs and did not actually have any content. Reason being all the programmers were working on the Xbox version.

2nd this, soundsa about right, PC gets sold out again to damn consoles, grrrrr grinds my gears.

...."and a very important rollercoaster game we always wanted to make"

Sure. It has nothing to do that half of FD has always been working on other projects during development time of ED. FD has to bankrupt themselves to deliver what WE want. They don't deserve to diversify their sources of income. No way sir.

This. Frontier are moving from being a software consultancy developing titles for 3rd parties to creating and publishing their own IP. They have teams already in the business who have experience developing for Xbone, and the likelihood is that the majority of the porting work on ED was done by those engineers. As for Planet Coaster, there are extreme similarities (from the trailer) between two Xbone games they've already released, Zoo Tycoon and Screamride. If most of the Planet Coaster team aren't made up of engineers who worked on those titles, I'll eat my (virtual) hat.

This.

Also I would like to point out that is constantly hiring new people for last 2 years. Pure example is CIG - 2014 totally wasted on just getting people hired and studios running.

Finally, I want to thank all our players on PC and Mac. We’ll have a major announcement for you soon, but for now I can tell you the new controller UI will be coming to PC and Mac later this year, and it will be joined by CQC before the end of 2015. Elite: Dangerous will keep growing on every platform it calls home.

I wonder what that will be?

Having spoken to someone who'd know* about number of staff required to do an XBox conversion - he estimated anywhere between 6 and 24. He didn't know about the Cobra engine when I asked (as pointed out by someone else on here when I mentioned it originally) so the number who worked on the XBox version is probably much closer to 6 than 24, and certainly not all the staff.

*They don't work for Frontier but recently worked on both the XBox and later PC versions of a super popular numerous sequel sandbox game.

Indeed,

I dont think that 90% of the people in this thread know how to actually run a company, let alone a games dev company. The disrespect that people are showing FD here is staggering.

Console versions were always on the cards.
Other games being made by FD were always on the cards.

So therefore resources for said projects need to be split are appropriate. I'm in ED for the long haul .. Rome was not built in a day ... Some peeps really do need a reality check here.

Hello!
I was recently faced such a problem in my only MMORPG - The Elder Scrolls Online.
It was February, when the last major update came out with a full game overhaul. Then, TESO devs concentrated their efforts on a console launch, which was already delayed for a year.
Then TESO came to B2P business model(it was subscription model for a year).
In that time from March till now we only received weekly incremental patches with a little bug fixes and new bugs of course. There was no info about new content\major update coming, till console launch happened.
Now there is some new info, that was demonstrated at E3.

So, what am i talking about?
FD gave us 2 major(?) updates since launch, when they worked on XB ONE version.
We are receiving at least 2 patches every week now, even when E3 in progress and ED console launch in progress.
I'm not a "white knighting", i just compare the game from an AAA publisher with ED. And on this comparison, i think AAA publisher sucks on all counts.

Sorry for my bad English. Doing my best :)

I'd just like them to get what we have right. Fix the bugs, flesh out the content and then look at what else they can bring in. Stuff like the Community goals and Powerplay haven't added anything to my enjoyment of the game but have a really deep and meaningful exploration side to the game or a damage model or persistent NPC's or ship naming would. Let's get the game we have perfected and then move onto to shiny new stuff. Oh and can we pretty please have that rather swish orrery that was shown ages ago as a concept. Thanks muchly.

Edit: And while I have my soapbox can we get all the ships that were promised at launch into the game please. I think we have waited long enough past the launch date now...

Indeed. It seems we are overflowing with self entitled, ignorant whingers here who seem to expect that FD should be doing their utmost 100% of the time to keep them happy.
A lot here need to grow up I'm afraid.

I'm expecting a mad dash at bugs...soon. There are a few left from release....the BGS is still not functioning 100%, etc. The next few weeks, hopefully, should have some large dev listings of bugs squashed.
