In-game Logo Application for Squadrons and Player Minor Factions in Elite Dangerous would be a valuable addition, allowing players to fully customize their group's visual identity and creating a greater sense of community within the game. The ability to apply custom logos would enhance immersion, promote player interaction, showcase player creativity, and benefit the game's marketing efforts.
The application process would require manual review to ensure that logos comply with the game's EULA and do not infringe on any copyright laws, thereby helping to maintain the game's integrity and prevent any legal issues which may arise from player-created icons. Squadron owners would be allowed to submit the application only once, and they can make up to three changes to their submission to prevent excessive requests. To increase the likelihood that this feature would be utilized, there could be an in-game portal to click on which opens a link in the browser, or it could all take place directly in-game.

Players would need to have the ability to upload a high-resolution .png OR .svg (Scalable Vector Graphics) file of their custom logo.
SVG files are preferred because they are scalable without losing quality, and they can be easily edited using vector graphics software, but PNGs could be optional for those who are unfamiliar with SVGs. The file should be at least 512x512 pixels in resolution, to ensure that the logo looks sharp and clear when displayed in-game.
It should be emphasized that there should be clear guidelines and restrictions in place for what kind of logos are allowed. As mentioned earlier, the logos would need to comply with the game's EULA and not infringe on any copyright laws. This is a very sensitive area as any infringement would be Frontier's responsibility. Changes to the EULA could be introduced that attribute copyright blame to the player, to avoid legal issues incase anyone wishes to be deceitful. The logos should not contain any offensive or inappropriate content that could harm the game's community & image.
Internally, I would assume that Frontier needs to make two major changes to accommodate this addition:

Internally, I would assume that Frontier needs to make two major changes to accommodate this addition:
- Allocate storage space for the high volume of player icons that will inevitably flood in as a result of this change. Not too technically inclined so this may have to be solved by Fdev in order for these changes to be implemented.
- Hire / Reposition Employees to review these applications. I'm not familiar with the work load for members of the Support Team, but I would imagine this review process could be delegated to them. I'm sure Fdev doesn't expect us to figure out these logistical issues, but I thought it would help <3
- Modify the pre-existing UI elements to support the changes; Examples included below
System Map Faction Panel:
Squadron panel - BEFORE CHANGES
Squadron panel - AFTER CHANGES
