In-Game Memorial Beacons

Greetings Commanders,

If you have lost a loved one that you wish to have memorialised in-game, please follow the link to this Support Article.

Memorial beacons are located in the following systems:
  • Sol
  • Achenar
  • Alioth
  • Shinrarta Dezhra
  • Colonia
  • Asellus Primus
  • Dromi
Each beacon contains the full list of names and we aim to update them approximately every three months.

We are sorry for your losses and honoured that you would choose Elite Dangerous to celebrate your loved ones' memories.

Note: as of Update 14, new memorilisations will only be added to the Live version of the game. Memorial beacons in Legacy mode will only display names up to Update 14 (29 Nov 2022).

Hi Bruce.

Can you confirm if all of the previous entries have been added so far or was there a cut off and we should resubmit if it was after a certain point in time? Cheers.

Hi rootsrat,

All entries from the previous forum threads were collected before they were locked and will be included in the next list update which is expected very soon.

Not for a LONG time yet, I hope.

Although this does raise a question - if a player were to die and they hadn't told anyone about this/how to submit their details, their name wouldn't be added. And that's a shame.

I can't see how it would be possible but some way of automatically adding a CMDR name if they were no longer with us would be amazing...

What you say is true.

I've made my wishes clear to my sister and my partner that I'd like to be added when the time comes. I've given them detailed instructions and screenshots of what it looks like in game and they think it's brilliant.

However, none of my family are as technically minded as I am and they wouldn't have known it was even possible until I told them.

It's a beautiful gesture on FDev's part but it would be good for players to register their (hopefully not so) imminent passing but this poses issues of its own.

I'm in hospital again at the moment and I've found out my cancer seems to be stable at the moment, although I'm not great, I should be around for a while yet.

It's this that poses the difficulty I suppose. I know I'm terminally ill but I could have 6 months, a year or more.

Having a game company register people declaring their terminal illness and tracking them until they pass doesn't sit right with me so I think what FDev have done is the best solution they can reasonably offer.

One thing I would really like to to is bequeath my in game assets to friends I've made through my journey in Elite and supported me through my illness.

Sadly I don't think this is possible.

Just learned you guys are doing this. Just requested to have my Dad's named added. I want to say thank you for doing this for us FDev. It means more to me than mere words could ever express.

Hi there,

just wondering when we will find out when these get updated. I got a confirmation email saying that my request was excepted but can’t seem to find a post that says when it’ll be added to the game.
