In system jump QOL solution?

I made 9 billion in 6 days in adenets doing wing trade by myself. Your argument is invalid

In fact after I bought the FC with that money I made it all back in 4 days after words.
 
So far this is the only version of the in system jump idea I like. Anyways now that FC can jump within the confines of a system it's kinda hard to keep using 'muh immerrshunn' as a reason why not 🙄
Except there are literally lore reasons that explain exactly why they can do that.

There are multiple types of FSD engines for jumping between systems. the version that are in capital ships are able to make precise and extremely long jumps. But the cost of this, is extreme size and fuel in order to make that jump.

The version of the FSD that is in the pilotable ships are a newer version of FSD that while smaller, retain a sizable jump range, at the cost of jump accuracy, while also allowing for hydrogen to be used as a fuel source rather then other materials.

Thats and established lore thing.

Yes, you worked 4 days using your carrier. While beacon would allow you to do it in 1 hour. Without even doing any game, you would just click "sell"-undock-dock-"buy"-undock-dock-...repeat.

THis is kinda a core lore tid bit, so saying "Oh they break lore all the time so lets break it again." is not a good reason to do it again. In fact thats one of the worst things.

If you care about the lore, you should be concerned in them NOT breaking it more.

Me not caring about their lore consistency anymore sorta keeps this from bothering me 🤷‍♂️
 
I mean you have to admit that the travel time in supercruse is the most non game play aspect of elite game play. You sit and watch a number count down and move the throttle slightly 30s before the arrive. Most people watch or do some thing else. It was made a huge deal out of in odyssey during the alpha test cus it massively highlights the bordom of supercruse. Especialy over long distances. And even more so when you have to repeat the same long journey over and over.

I get why people dont want in system jumps.. im one who is against it for the most part, i just thought it might be a good in lor ... altho i always thought it was mass related not engine related.. so mabe not so in lor.. non super gamey brake the size of the galaxy way.

There may need to be more limitations on how it works as some good points of contest have been raised.

Or mabe supercuse need to be more fun some how.. i mean that would be the ultimate solution but.. even in real life i hate long car journeys cus i get bored lol

No, I admit it is THE BEST part of game. That's why I play Elite - because it has long SC on proper scale. Any other known game to me allows teleport or boost time to skip proper scale fly, why Elite does not.
 
Point is to have any game at all :D Beacons will do effectively "clicker" game, you know that dumbs "i tapped that cow 200000 times".
Agreed but if I play 6 hours of Elite 4.5 shouldn't be in supercruise. It's a drag that an additional hour is typically spent in shipyard/outfitting/remote workshop and I've only spent 30 mins actually engaging in what I consider gameplay. That has become a big turn off to the game for a lot of us, I'd imagine

Well, that's my common opinion - if you don't have time for game - don't play it. Not related for Elite. Just hate when people quit group 10mins later "sorry I have dinner".
As for Elite - mine 6 hrs, or put carrier close to CZ and fight some.

I have stopped playing. Fdev has absolutely no respect for the console community so I personally hope they screw the pooch like crazy with Odyssey.

Well you may find your the exeption and not the rule in this case man. Good for you for having that level of calm, but im an extreamly patient person and i find some of the journeys pretty mind numbing. And it would seem given the amount of times in system jumps and long travel times in supercruse has been brought up over and over it might be a problem for the game on some levels that needs to be adressed.. mabe not, but thats my perception.

Also supercruse is a boost time to skip. We can even brake light speed because if we traveled at the speed of light it would take years and years of real time travel to reach another system and months and weeks in system. The old games had hyper sleep. And it did take months and days to travel in game you just slept thrugh it to save real life time. That was better in my opinion. As you could apreciate the scale but not go make a sandwich and watch a show on netflix walst you did so.

  • You can only carry one inactive beacon at a time.
  • You can only drop the beacon in normal space.
  • The module is at least size 4.
  • You are the only one that can jump to the beacon.
  • The dropped and active beacon is destroyed when you jump to it in system.
  • The module costs at least 5,000,000,000 credits.
  • The Pilots Federation insurance cover does not cover this module.
People have said in the past that the game needs credits sinks.

And only works in inhabited systems. The bubble can keep these things.
