Inara auto-updater?

Please don't be frightened by the word "auto". I know it's causing some heat around here lately...

Anyway, I recently started using the trade connector tool for updating eddb.io and I love it. Super great tool. I wish everyone used it, not just traders. But I digress. I don't use Inara because I have to manually update it. It's an awesome tool but it needs automatic updates. I found a tool that does this, written in python, but It doesn't work right now. Are there any other tools out there that auto-update Inara? If not I may be forced to make one... We shall seeeee.

EDIT: I should have left the last bit out. I don't want to make a tool, lol. If they're already making this then rad. I can wait. But if no one is working on it I can poke at it.

Maybe you should be asking this on the INARA site itself. There's bound to be more information on the subject there, and you might even catch the eye of that pages developers.

I'd be all for it. I only update my inara every once in a while due to having to do it manually also. Just make sure you can set what you want updated and how often.

Hey there CMDR StackOfCups, I'm not a full-time trader, but I'd be really interested in the trade connector tool you mentioned. Care to share a link?
Back when I was only trading for a while, I used the RegulatedNoise trade tool. But since that entails taking and uploading screenshots all the time, I haven't been using it since I stopped my fulltime trade stint.

I use the E:D Market Connector tool, and it updates both EDDB and Inara automatically with the market info. It also updates EDDB with the station facility info too.

I think with 2.2 player journal data, both EDDB and inara are going to have lots of data to parse and peruse.

Inara does a good job of recording your flight schedule from the current verbose logging. the eddb connector tool is a neat little thing that hides in the background and extracts data when you land.

looking forward to what these will transmogrify into post 2.2

Most of the things that is possible to update "automatically" (for example like market prices, outfitting, shipyard via MarketConnector/EDDN) are updated that way on Inara. But, there is some stuff that needs to be updated manually, because there is no way how to get it from the game directly (or easily via iOS API). Frontier did a first great step with the upcoming journals, which will improve things a little bit, but without a regular full API provided by them it will never by a "full automatic" solution. ;)

was there not some gentlemans agreement that auto data-scraping would not 'be a thing' .... ?

My recollection is that there was one way of doing it that Frontier was against, but this (IIRC) is using same connectivity as Frontier's own ED IOS app, and they are fine with it. The developer of it would be better placed to comment than I though.

Resurrecting this thread to point out that someone has written a plugin for EDMC that auto-updates Inara.

With 2.3, EDMC will track Materials and auto-update your account on EDSM (if you have one). The author of the Inara plugin has expressed interest in doing this too.
