Incentive to migrate from console to pc

The incentive is you get new content for years to come on the PC.

It that guaranteed? A road map of this would be nice, and it'd be a proper incentive. Those of us who don't have PCs and are debating whether to get one don't want to get shafted again if the self life of PC Elite is one or two years more max. Frontier need to start communicating what their long term plans are for this game. They at least owe us that.

Nothing except death and taxes are guaranteed in life. Going on their decade long plan, Elite dangerous will be developed for a while yet.

Why make a road map if they are going to just drive right off it. Would be nice to have a idea, but many of the Kickstarter items were never realized and most likely never will.

I just keep playing, having fun, and not too concerned about the future of Elite.

I would suggest that you would be buying a gaming PC for the many games that are either better quality on a decent PC, just won't run on console, or that you would like to take advantage of the modding that goes on.

Everybody has their own budget, but I think we can all agree that spending what would be a 4 figure sum for the sole purpose of playing Odyssey is going to be a waste.

This is a company that blithely stated that "of course you can't change the HUD colors if they're 'baked in'" (along with bounty credits).
How long have they known consoles weren't feasible? I would bet on update 9 onwards tbh - that's quite a long time to think about some kind of sql script to migrate console users to PC.
Hehe I completely forgot about the HUD colours. And how easy it was to change them in the end - even though if using certain values it would affect other areas like NPC portraits also (and that shows the shortsightedness of the initial design really).

The way I imagine player accounts to be organised is merely a bunch of parameters and variables, and that they're platform agnostic - unless Xbox/Playstation/Windows save games are structured completely differently between themselves, which would half surprise me (and I suppose half not suprise me in fairness :p).

It should be simple:

Frontier gives all the console players a free Steam PC base game account, then migrates over EVERYTHING from the console accounts.

At that point, literally no reason to not move to PC, unless you have an ancient desktop / laptop PC that can't play Horizons, which practically runs on a potato...

A crazy idea (what else)

Everyone who migrates from console to pc gets the cobra mk4
If they already have it, then maybe a unique decal "exodus" or similar or an ingame shirt with "migrated from console and all I got is this shirt". I know sound like a tease but I would wear it.
Just a Cobra Mk4? If you want to ruffle @Bigmaec 's feathers make it an exclusive Panther Clipper? ;)

Straight Frontier account. Not inclined to deal with Steam.

I love the game and am deeply upset that my journey has ended but, is Elite Dangerous worthy of a massive outlay of cash to purchase a machine capable of running oddysey... no.. no it isnt.

Regardless of all the other less than supportibe replies I think this is a nice idea. ED needs people buying ARX.

They communicated that they would like to release Odyssey on consoles and now they communicated that they can't. If they could guarantee anything I guess they would.

PS
If the only reason to get a PC is Odyssey for you, and you can't live with the fact that the game will not run till eternity... don't. Unless you have unlimited amounts of money / don't care for it.

Ya still wont get the cobra IV. It's an exclusive for pre-ordering horizons (or if you have the lifetime expansion pack) on PC before February 5th 2016 or pre-ordering it on Xbox One before July 30th 2016.
