Increase max bookmark limit (128) and add more functionality to the bookmark system

There are a max number of 128 bookmarks allowed. Very little especially for explorers such as myself and many other CMDRs that frequently use it. This should be a very easy fix. I think the limit should at least be around ~2500. Also, the bookmark system is due for an overhaul. Adding folders and color-coding would go a long way. Many CMDRs have also requested to have access to bookmarks from the left hand panel for easy route plotting. All of these are long overdue changes for a feature that was added years ago. The bare minimum of increasing the limit size hasn't even been done, even though it's probably as easy as changing one line of text.

A simple Folder Design with multiple Bookmark Groups would be neat as well.

Folder 1 "Exploration" : i.e. all your Deep Space Bookmarks
Folder 2 "Mining" : i.e. all your Mining Hotspots
Folder 3 "BGS" : i.e. all your BGS-related/Faction Systems/Stations etc.
Folder 4 "Lore/Guardians/Thargoids/Raxxla hunt" : all your special research locations or Targets
Folder 5 "Current Campaign" : i.e. a local area Research (Bubble hunt or ELW campaign or Codex survey)

Each folder would contain the max. permitted amount of Bookmarks each, so the "Display limit" of the GALmap rendering engine isn't being touched by the total amount of Bookmarks, which then could increase manifold by sorting it to Folders the Player could switch between.

Yup. Been asking for this for what is probably years now. My single most wanted quality of life feature.

Pretty much what you suggest. Put bookmarks into folders. Allow user to create/name their own folders (e.g. "mining hotspots", "canyon racing", "mat farming", etc, etc). Assign each folder a colour and then colour the bookmark icons on the galaxy map accordingly. Put checkboxes next to each folder and bookmark so user can choose which bookmarks to display on the galaxy map. There's already precedent for most of this UI work (including folders, colours and checkboxing) in the galaxy map trade filtering stuff (where the type of commodity, e.g. "food" equates to the folder concept and the list of commodities within that equate to the actual bookmarks).

Yes! Please! MOAR bookmarks and ways to mark, plan and organize our way around the galaxy!

If Frontier aren't aware that this is one of the most widely requested QoL features (and has been for over a year) then they pay even less attention to the forums (and other social media outlets) than I imagined.

P.S. @TheWonko - does saying this mean I'm no longer hosting the fanboi convention this year? ;)

Unfortunately, after going through older threads, I can see many other CMDRs have requested this very much needed QoL improvement over the past few years. I don't even think Frontier cares enough to look at this thread, let alone respond. Hopefully I'm wrong.

By the new Era we should have more, maybe come in with FC's. Even the 128 we have now is an increase from the original number, and remember when we didn't have bookmarks at all? Progress is slow indeed, but FDEV know we want them by now.

Was about to make a thread requesting more bookmarks. It appears i dont have to now :)
Im out exploring at the moment and found the hard way i am limited to 128 bookmarks. So, had to right down all my current bookmarks, delete my current bookmarks after writing them down in wordpad, and then i was able to use bookmarks again as i plot my course thru out the galaxy.
A definite, significant increase is needed here.

Also, a route plotter with waypoints would be nice as well, so you can plot your course once, and off ya go.

And don't forget: Let us somehow paste to and copy from the search field in the Galaxy Map. There is absolutely no redundancy in these system names...
This might also be helpful for VR users (which I am not yet).
