Indian elephants never interact?

I reported this on the issue tracker a while back, but I'd like to get other people's feedback on this if possible.

I got concerned by the lack of social interaction I was seeing in my Indian elephants and ran a test of sorts. I made a zoo just for them with a giant enclosure containing 15 females and their calves (and grandcalves, eventually), and in 80-plus in game years of watching these elephants I did not see a single social interaction except for mating. Nothing happened between the females and the other females, nothing happened between the calves ... eventually I gave up because I was getting bored.

Does anyone else have this issue? Or if you've seen your Indian elephants interacting I'd love to hear about it.

That issue doesn't only affect indian elephants in particular. It is present in every non-exhibit animal species ingame.Social interactions are currently very, very, very rare. The people here are currently waiting for an overall official statement regarding that topic, but personally I don't think they will work on this before they are done with fixing all bugs.

Two baby Indian Elephants in my zoo got together and did some social interaction (looked like saying "Hi" in elephant) and then both ran off and went swimming together in my game yesterday. It's so rare that when I saw that it was memorable. Like @Mkau said though, it's a theme for the whole game.

Social interactions for most species are lacking. There was a statement made that they are aware of this issue and will try to fix it.

I had a test zoo for social interactions as well. Elephants never did anything. I thought I saw an interaction but it ending up being clipping 🤣🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

My wolves, despite the agression issue, seem to be the most social and it has improved a bit with patches. The babies now follow mom a good chunk of the time (they will wander but run back to her). If all the pups run too far away mom will go after them. Pups will play. Mom plays with pups. Adults will play with each other. Still needs work (the interactions can be jaring because they just happen randomly and then aburptly stop) but you can see with the wolves that the possibility is there.

I think there is going to be a lot of work that has to be done before the animal socializations are as promised and it will take time. I'm hoping the game will eventually get there. I've given up on looking at my elephants because it's depressing to see the lack of social behaviors in such an intelligent, complex animal.
