The books are the sole reason we even have this game? The two first Jurassic Park movies are made from the books??
The movies that barely follow the books.
Admittedly, this is somewhat unfair on Jurassic Park to a certain extent, but fully deserving for The Lost World; the timeline is different, the park is different, the islands are different, the characters are different and, most importantly in this particular case, the dinosaurs are different.
e.g. Dilophosaurus from the novel universe has the same colours as a leopard, red crests, spits clear venom, and is rather large. Whereas Dilophosaurus from the movie universe is olive green with black striping, has a yellow and red frill, spits tar-like venom and is rather small.
In this particular case, Carnotaurus from the novel universe had an unknown colouration, near-perfect camouflage which was able to replicate patterns and shadows on their skin, and hunted only at night. Whereas Carnotaurus from the movie universe was red with black markings, hunted both in the day and at night, and didn’t camouflage.
And the game doesn’t just follow the movies. We have a bunch of dinosaurs that never featured in any films at all and new hybrids which has nothing to do with the movies.
So, what's the issue here?
Dinosaurs that never featured in any of the films were to be expected from Jurassic World Evolution, other park tycoon games based on the Jurassic license (JP/// Builder, JPOG, Jurassic Park Builder and Jurassic World The Game) feature a large number of dinosaurs that were never featured in the film franchise.
As for the hybrids, technically, they do have something to do with the movies. Shortly before the 2015 Incident, on the Masrani Global website, Claire Dearing hints that “the Indominus rex may be the first of many genetically modified dinosaurs in InGen's attempt to continually satisfy both visitors and investors”. The Secrets of Dr. Wu essentially follows on with this particular development, or evolution if you will, for the Jurassic World Project with the recently added hybrids.
I can’t see why the Indo which has never been seen on screen camoflauge, should be able to, when the originator of camo in the franchise should not... I just don’t get it. It’s like saying LeBron is the greatest basketball player of all time and completely ignoring that Jordan ever played...
Even though an Indoraptor that can camouflage was talked about in the movies?
Even though the Indoraptor is essentially the same as the Indominus rex, just except with a bit more Velociraptor DNA in order to make it both smaller and trainable?
Even though the Indoraptor uses an animal whose DNA is camouflage compatible in the game?
Even though Dr. Wu is in a much better situation in JWE than he was in FK and has the time, financial security, staff power, support from the Hammond Foundation and even his own Research Station on Isla Tacaño to further develop and refine his original, imperfect prototype and turn the Indoraptor into the ultimate, unstoppable bio-weapon?
I have explanations and pieces of evidence from both the Jurassic world and real world supporting the notion of making Indoraptor “Cuttlefish Compatible”. I can’t find say the same for Carnotaurus.
Let me just say, I'm not against the notion for Carnotaurus to be camouflage compatible in a later update, it’s just there’s just no real teeth to support its inclusion in the game. It’s all well and good to say that just because Carnotaurus did it in the book that’s more than a good enough reason for it to be in the game, but not only are the book and movie completely different (except for a few characters, the island's name and the trailer attack) you’re also forgetting the bigger picture:
Why would Dr. Wu suddenly now make this particular dinosaur compatible with cuttlefish genes, after 30 years; during which a good third of that time, Carnotaurus was doing perfectly well on Isla Nublar without it?
Why can’t he make all the other dinosaurs he used to create the I. rex camouflage (T. rex, Velociraptor, Giganotosaurus etc.) compatible as well, what makes Carnotaurus so special to him?
