Infested planets!

How cool would it be if Galnet put out the odd article about an "infested planet" that has been discovered.

It could be a thin-atmospheric planet that regularly spawns hordes of a unique alien creature, ripe for hunting!

Frontier could handcraft the species and put it on one known planet. Maybe once a year a new infested planet would be discovered with a new species to hunt - or be hunted by!

If it was a previously fully undiscovered world it might be very cool, a pop up on somewhere that was well known and visited would be naff.

I have trouble with the idea of something energetic enough to be a worthwhile target and also a credible threat on a thin-atmospheric planet that wasn’t either a bio weapon or a tech using alien difficult.

Yes they could but it would feel quite cheesy by the second time they did it if not the first.

To do that they'd need to add animals (and shooting them) into the game. That's a big ask already. And then why bother - just go hunting bandersnatch on those distant worlds.

It's called Helldivers 2. While I think Frontier could learn a lot from the mission design of HD2, they should, in my opinion, elaborate and expand on the Odyssey mission system rather than aping another game's system wholesale.

Some of the missions are pretty fun already, such as the missions to defend canisters on planet surfaces. The game needs more of this, with missions that properly scale by the number of players in the squad and in the instance.

I've been watching some Planet Zoo & Jurassic Park Evolution videos in fascination and it's clear that FD has the chops to implement mobile alien life forms well. The only question is whether ED's Cobra engine can support the feature without major re-engineering 🤷‍♂️
