I hope the "my immursion guys" don't win again cause i cant afford another time sink...I mean imagine talking with your friend and saying "oh lest go play some a elite together in the free time we have today",you log in and then have to wait like a moron for no actual reason and there goes your playtime...Forget the bullcrap and lets have some FUN! Timesinks are for no lifers!

Voted Yes.

The game already has a nagging surplus of pointless wait times built into it. There are better ways to immerse players than subject them to boredom.

Even tho in this instance i personally an not bothered wifh instant, transfer your logic is gash!

You are suggesting FD should not bakance the game for those who want an immersive space sim but instead balance it for those wanting a 5min coockie clicker.

Yes i can see why some feel ED is heading in that direction, but it does not mean those hanging on to the dream of an in depth space sim/rpg like talked about during kser and the dev days should throw in the towel. EDs strongest asset is the immersion it can generate , if it loses that it may as well be galaxy on fire 3

Any player who thinks immersion is something to be laughed at and is irrelavent to the game imo have no idea of the game FD pitched to the kickstarters.

All the immersion folk are trying to do is hold FD to their promises

I'd be right with you there, except from 2 years of evidence I can confidently say any hope I had for something remotely close to what you've just said, was dashed a long time ago.

At first I was thinking FDEV were going to produce a game which catered for everyone. This initially took a bit of a dent with the Star Wars flight model and I was involved in The Great Flight Model War way back when.

Since then, almost every addition has been very much oriented towards Arcade Mode. The fact that FDEV has done zip and nada towards Crime & Consequences, have basically let the arcade game crew run amok and stomp all over the BGS, and this Season 2, which has ultimately turned what could have been a slightly more high-brow game, into just another pew-pew-oriented frag fest.

So now I'll treat the game as what it currently is - Galaxy-wide CQC.

Gone are the days where I had Hopes & Dreams of playing an intrepid explorer, seeking out new life and new civilisations, boldly going where no one had gone before etc.

As for immersion - LAWL. Unfortunately now all I can see is the Matrix. Jumps are nothing more than loading screens where by your current instance and star system is wiped from the board, and a new instance and star system is drawn in some background buffer whilst the terribad networking is given time to fail to connect with other game clients. Supercruise is an illusion where some glowy spheres are moved in 3D space to give you the illusion you're moving around a star system. There is no point in the BGS because anyone trying to get immersed in the Elite world suddenly finds themselves pulled quickly and violently out of it because ultimately this is a CQC fragfest and "OMG what dude get a shield BOOM git gud! LOL no consequences so this is totally legit gameplay because the rules allow it n00b!"

In fact I'd even go as far as to say FDEV should just remove the time delays and fees in ship transfers - it'd fit the game perfectly! ALso, whilst we're at it, remove the 30km limit for SLF's, becuase that ain't gonna wash anymore with unlimited telepresence hologram staff from Sol to Beagle Point :D

"Genar, you are sounding AWFULLY cynical these days!" - "Yeah, I am!" :)

Agreed. Instant ship transfer should be brought in. If only to speed to general demise of this game to make place for Star Citizen, which doesn't seem to share this hatred of immersion, lore and consistency.
If everything is easy and readily available, people get bored with it quickly. They will still buy it, but nobody will actually play the damn game.

This isn't instant transfer in the same sense as ships/modules/cargo, once your matchmaking session ends you get dumped right back in your ship wherever you left it.
Some bits sound like they need to be ironed out but i can't see any problems with it being instant.
Suspend your immersion, even some of the most popular MMOs of all time use instant transport and you don't see WoW players crying that they got teleported into a dungeon for a raid rather then everyone walking across the map and assembling outside the entrance.
I don't think this is something that needs to be explained in lore, its just a thing to make games more fun for those who want to. Once space legs arrive the criteria for matchmaking may change again so its not worth getting too bogged down on.
I probably won't use it, it's only going to have any use on ships big enough to launch fighters. I'd also prefer to see NPC crew, even if they just add passive buffs and a bit of fluff.

You have to fly to each other to play together in a wing. So, no imagination needed?

I really hope this time the community won't ruin everything like they did with ship/module transfer ( worst decision ever ).

Nah no worries about that - I think you'd have to be really.. special.. to not see why being able to hologram into someone's ship at Beagle Point from Sol is perfectly valid for the sake of gameplay - I mean, I for one completely support this upcoming feature - it fits perfectly with what the game has turned out to be after all ;)

Of course YES, it's game after all.

But what I'd do is I would limit somehow the max distance when you can 'hop' on a ship, say lets say 1000 LY, so people can't jump on other people's ships to see SAG A for example.

God forbid.

Like imagine inviting your mate to take a look at Sag A, it would be a travesty and must be prevented.

Voted no. If it offers any manner of tactical advantage, then there should be a delay, like with ship transfer. All those people crying about insta-transferring Corvettes to Colonia got that nerfed into irrelevancy. This will probably be the same, regardless of popularity.

Sheesh, there's not as much crab bucket as the threads would indicate. Yes. Not for any other reason than this is good for some players, meaningless for others, and doesn't add game breaking issues such as would happen if you could get your ship across the galaxy in a second.

Heck one person could do the slog over there, get a big ship and invite three mates over to look at whatever's going on there, maybe convincing some of them that there's nothing there worth travelling all that way for.

Voted no because Frontier was dumb enough to add a delay to ship transfer when the forums asked for it and I want to see if they're dumb enough to listen to the forums on this subject too.
