I know your pain brother, every computer I have built in the last 20yrs have all lasted till now. Even my winXP build is still working, It's a dust collector, but the kids use my last win7 build from 12yrs ago. The point I'm trying to make is that if you save and use good parts in your comp. it will last longer than you would ever think. I suggest you start with a good MoBo, like this one https://www.newegg.ca/msi-pro-h610m-g-wifi-ddr4/p/N82E16813144573?Item=N82E16813144573 CPU https://www.newegg.ca/intel-core-i5...cessor/p/N82E16819118349?Item=N82E16819118349 RAM https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-16gb-ddr4-3200/p/N82E16820231941?Item=N82E16820231941 all of this together in Canadian$ $460.00 Buy a component once a month or so...they will come together faster than you think. None of these parts are top-of-the-line but they will do great. The CPU socket will support 12-13-14th gen CPU...so you can upgrade if you want later on. That is also without a VC, PSU, Case, Hdd. Just giving you some options brother.Ok, I was looking on ebay today and found some deals, would an i7 6th gen be enough for PC2? They don't give the number of it in the listing. It has 32GB RAM and Win 11 Pro, and a solid state drive. It's an Omen with a clear window on the side and it's $299. The graphics card is only 4GB but I can upgrade that later. I can get a used GPU on ebay for the fraction of the cost of a new one. Should I go higher than an i5 6600 because that is the minimum processor that will run PC2? I have over $200 in my ebay funds from selling things. I saw a few i5 6600K's on ebay for under $500. For now, I just want to get Steam and PC1 back since Steam no longer opens on my Win 8.1 computer after I uninstalled it and reinstalled it because it had a error where you had to choose between a few things. It shows up in Task Manager but the Steam window doesn't open. What about i5-9500 3 ghz.? I found one for $234 free shipping and it has 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD and Win 11 Home. An 11th gen is out of my budget. I have to get something with the minimum processor or a bit above like the i5-9500. The 6600 was launched in August 2015 and the 9500 in 2018.
I'm really thinking about that Dell i5-9500 because it's above the minimum requirements and it has Win 11, NVMe SSD which is faster than regular SSD, 16 GB RAM.and I can get a graphics card later for under $100 on ebay like a used one that works. It's only $234, $249 with tax and free shipping.
Minimum requirements are just that, the bare minimum system that they've tested and been able to get the game to function on the lowest graphics settings and smaller parks (like the ones in career mode). My current computer has an i7-8700 and I think it's from 2019. Is that processor powerful enough? Why would they say the minimum requirements then? So you are saying PC2 will struggle on any i5 even one above the minimum one? With Geforce Now you have to pay for it forever to continue using it. I can get a cheap used 6gb graphics card on ebay for under $100. I don't need those expensive gaming desktops that light up and that. Just one that can run PC2 and a processor above the minimum requirements even one from a few years ago. And an SSD NVMe drive which is the fastest, and Win 11 over Win 10 because support ends a year from now.
Dude, I just told you that your current processor should be adequate, at least until you can get something better! Once you've saved up the money, then look at the options you can afford at that time; by then you might be able to afford a much more recent processor. What about an i5-9500? Is that better than an i5-6600? Is an i7 really that much better than an i5? I found a few i5-9500 desktops on ebay for $200 or under. i7's newer gen start at around $400 for the desktop. I understand PC2 will have DX12 support and multithreading making it perform better than PC1. I was wondering if I could get by with an i5-9500 because it's a few generations newer than the minimum processor.
