Interdiciton - PVE Slide or Reduction Button

Longtime player since the beginning, loved ED just for running cargo runs in my python. I stopped shortly after the engineers, came back and did the bulk of the guardians. I thought lets give it another try and the love/hate for the game starts right up. I find getting tripled and quadruple interdicted extremely frustrating and immersion breaking. I used to get fed up with constant doubles but it seems that is now rare. I beat all three or four just so I can start it all over again. Even if I jump and beat the interdiction and jump back the same 3 or 4 are just there waiting for me to tell me the same thing. Game play should not be about repetition which I see was carried over to unlocking the guardian fighters. I do not mind an interdiction here or there but 3/4 interdictions one after another is completely and utterly ridiculous.

The way I look at the NPCs coming after me is this: If I am mission running, then there will be something chasing me and out to get me and if this were real life; they wouldn't just disappear, if I managed to get away, or hide somewhere. They would keep looking, unless I killed them or managed to stay one step ahead.

Yes it is a pain, but inconsistent? No; well unless they start coming back in a few seconds and are back up to 100% no damage etc..

The issue with this is the same four npcs are just sitting there ready to line up and wait for you to beat one then immediately interdict one after another. I beat all 4 and come back 30+ mins later, the same four or 3 are lined back up waiting just for me. Adding a mechanic for realism is one thing, but this is not. Why are 3/4 npcs playing nice and lining right and waiting to interdict you over and over. At some point 30 mins later when I return you would think they would be off somewhere else. I kept switching instances so now I just down to constant doubles. I just love running cargo and relaxation of space and not the incessant interdictions that have increased since the last time I played.

Kill them and they won't bother you anymore.

For these missions I'm running the type 9, I guess I could move the anaconda here and give it go. But in the past it did not seem to diminish the interdictions.

If you look on the transactions tab, it usually tells you how many enemies you can expect once you get the coms message.
Once you kill them all that's it for that mission.

No Imp rank/Cutter?

Agreed: Once dead, they should stay that way.

I'm maxed on ranks except for explorer rank. I'm stuck on the anaconda, python and type 9 as my favs. I gained elite rank almost exclusively with the python. Since I have been back I wanted to really just wanted run some cargo. Plus I need to get the engineering materials for the next ship. I'm still on the fence concerning the cutter, I mainly really like cargo hauling and just would like to enjoy it peacefully.

Just to be clear, Imperial rank is different than your trade, combat, explorer ranks.
Are you a King with the Empire?

The Cutter is fast, has good shields and carries the most cargo.
If you want to do peaceful bulk trade, that is the best ship imo because you can just boost away from most attackers.

My trade Cutter boosts over 500 m/s and has a max jump range of 30ly.
It now carries 2 c3 reverb torpedo pylons, so even elite Anaconda NPCs die very quickly.

Have you ask for assistance on the forums like ask a player to help deal with the ships chasing you. Could it be the mission of Trade you are accepting that could be?

Had not really looked into the cutter, had though the corvette to replace the anaconda for high conflict zones also. The boost speed is impressive. I'm max rank in both major factions. I'm guessing your fully engineered, are you using guardian fsd booster to get those specs? I gutted my type 9 earlier to finish missions before time ran out due to taking a break each time I got triple or quad interdicted, I was able to get to 784 cargo space.

Seems to be the same no matter the mission, personal weapons, battle weapons, perf enhance. I stopped online play a longtime ago back to due player and npc interdictions. The npc interdictions are so numerous then add players it was impossible just to enjoy relaxation of flying in space.

That FSD is max G5 increased range/mass manager, but the ship has no FSD booster.

yeah to get interdicted while trading is boring because it's repetitive. Wait you know what? missions are repetitive, we should have a slider to set the amount of money we need and the game should give it istantly on our the account.

I have to agree with OP in that getting interdicted multiple times when you've literally seconds to go to your target station is extremely annoying. It's one thing to get interdicted once when you're almost in reach to drop out, but twice or three times (and then having to start over because you have to accelerate again)? At least let us drop out normally when we're in range of a station.

If you want a more peaceful freighter pilot experience you could try just running cargo rather than cargo missions. It's not as lucrative but it will cut down the NPC interdictions considerably.

You wish....
Multiple interdictions in alleged high-security systems while hauling cargo is precisely why I stopped trading altogether. The most annoying thing: after boosting away from the engagement in order to get back into supercruise the attacker was not even delayed at all. Basically two or three seconds after getting back to supercruise the same ship was interdicting me again.

They're not playing nice - all four are independently trying to interdict you as fast as possible, but only one can interdict at once (neither ship involved in an interdiction can be interdicted by anything else) so the others just have to wait.

Do you fly the slow and pirate-recommended "75% at 6 seconds" supercruise approach? If so, that makes you extremely easy to interdict - look up fast spiral and gravity-brake approaches, proper use of which can make you virtually impossible to interdict once you've got clear of the hyperspace exit point if you twist your approach to be at right angles to the NPCs.
(Rather tougher in a T-9 than in, say, a ship that can turn around in less than a week, but not impossible)

If you're running missions, the fewer instance changes you do in the course of the mission, the less chance there is of a mission-specific NPC being directed at you. This is another case - other than just shooting them - where the Anaconda can be better, as it can usually get to the destination system for most missions in a single jump.

I was just being sarcastic about the playing nice due to the way it happens. While in the first interdiction you get to see the other 3 come in and say nice cargo etc. I joke because I would think they could see I'm currently fighting off an interdiction. I like to think they would not be interested in sharing and they would take out one another till the 4th remains and starts the interdiction.

My method is 100% throttle till 350-400ls, then I blip the throttle often on approach listening to the engines. Then at 9mm I start to accelerate again hitting 100% at around 5mm out. If the screen is not flashing red I feel like I'm doing it wrong.

My preferred approach style

Moved 350ly looking for stations with decent short trip jumps to build up materials and data. I was tired of the quad interdiction's, found one system with decent one jump missions. No surprise the first one jump run it was nothing but triple indentations non stop. After the 4th triple I logged off, log back in today and rene, buzz, mariana start right back up. So after the 3 times beating them all in less than 40 mins I logged off. Why not add some form of cooldown to bring for of realism to interdiction. I would think they would realize this is a fruitless effort and move on. After beating them a couple of times get a 1 hour cooldown assigned to the them.

Not a real expectation I am afraid.

Next people will asking for NPC cannons to fire fluffy bunnies, because the real ammo is damaging their hulls too much.
