Interdicted by The Code rep for them playing properly/pirating nicely

Jumped in my ASP tonight and left my FDL and FGS in my home system as I fancied doing some long jumps and fast travel. Anyway did some missions then went to find a crash site and do some exploring and SRV based stuff which is when I ran into CODE.

Two CMDRs in a Wing... one in a Cutter the other in a Courier! I tried to run as I saw on the scanner they were after me. They interdicted me and I thought to myself christ rebuy time no chance against a Cutter and Courier in my ASP, I fully expected to be wiped out by heat weapons. To my surprise they were proper RP space pirates!

Luckily I had 7 units of osmium left from mining yesterday in the hold I'd forgotten about not much of a prize for them but enough to save my skin. Sadly for Code all my valuable cargo had just been delivered in the last system.

Pleasantly surprised when they messaged me to stop and be scanned. They then asked for/demanded cargo unfortunately the joke was on them I had nothing worth money. I gave them that and they let me go!

Overall a nice RP pirating experience! COME ON FRONTIER we need more of this not endless heat ganking! Give us crime & punishment and implement pirating more.

I had a similar experience when I was first interdicted, after returning to Elite from a break. I was making my way to the Xmas CG and I was pulled out of cruise, thinking "Okay, this must be the ganking I hear so much about..."

The pirate said "Greetings CMDR, I'm the Xmas grinch here to steal Xmas... All I need is 4T of your cargo"

I was messing about (fumbling with controls) to jettison to cargo and he started shooting, I typed "working on it..." he stopped and said something about combat logging... I replied with some RP, played a disgruntled pilot losing his cargo, a bit of back and forth and then we parted ways.

It is one of my favorite experiences had in the game.

I am curious though, what do pirates do with people with no cargo generally, for example you're out just scanning bodies for exploration data?

Do they just shoot them, or be reasonable and just let you go?

They have a 'Code' of conduct. It's secret but you could probably black box it if you tried ;)

And this ... is what I am talking about .... tanking or what ever you want to refer it to (and it's not PvP so drop that). If I have a bounty on me I am fair game. If you are a pirate I am fair game. But just because I cross your path and YOU are bored.

Yep, there's a huge gulf of difference between shooting someone because there's a real, in game, valid reason... and shooting them because they're a hollow square that you are pretty sure you can pop without risk. I have zero problem with the first and would be happy to meet PvPers like that, but no interest in being content for the second.

Nice one OP rep for you and your CODE pirates. There's only one proper way to experience Elite Dangerous: Join us, go play OPEN !

We are so used to the ganking-meta-pewpew-p0wnz0rs that it's even refreshing to meet *decent* pirates : sad, sad, sad ...

See what you did FD ?! Give us *real* piracy dammit !

+rep to the OP, +rep to The Code, + fond memories to Hagglebeard, the most awesomesterest buccaneer in the Elite Galaxy.

YAAARRRRR !

Usually i don't post here because eng is not my first language but this time is different someone is talking about me :D

I'm the guy in the Cutter in your story and a The Code crew member ( remember the right way is The Code not CODE ).
I am very happy that you are talking about our little interaction because this is why i play in OPEN.
I like have fun in this game with other players like you.
I play under The Code flag and my job is steal your cargo because i m a pirate and piracy is a legit career in this game like trader, miner, bounty hunter.
I hope one day we could play in OPEN with a right crime & punishment system good for all. This game need more players in OPEN human brain sometimes is better then the scripted AI.

Thank you for your cooperation Cmdr Muzzuk and check your six The Code are in space looking for good cargo.

Well played Cmdr. We need more of your type in-game.

Just as a note, its fine to name commanders if you are being positive about it. The naming and shaming rule is only there to stop people doing witch hunts and being nasty to other players.

Its perfectly fine to say Kudos to CMDR X and CMDR Y! However, you might want to contact them just to make sure they are ok with being named, but i think most Code members are fine with public noteriety ;)

I have to join in giving Code good karma. There is actual, genuine fun in being interdicted by pirates and trying to escape or fight back. (especially when you are ready for it!)

Hmm, that Cmdr X gets around. He was being shamed in another thread !
