Interesting Encounter at Asterope

I swear it told me it was 18.

Wow, this is incredibly embarrassing. It never dawned to me to go check out the other side (thinking that was the backside). Hilarious. Flashing Morse Code at an Aliens Butt, next week on Geraldo...

I'll be real I've done way more left field things in ED. You took some awesome pics, did some science and no doubt had a great time with the goid..... and it seems like it was enjoying whatever you did to it too ;)

Interesting.

I continue to suspect that we are basically like pesky gnats in their eyes. If we don't get in their way and don't bite them, they are content to ignore us. The problem, if this is true, is that this also means they have zero regard for our lives, and thus will happily kill us merely for being an annoyance.

Well, everyone focuses on the front of these things, SOMEONE has to go and look up its bumhole!

Looks remarkably like the top of a thargoid base I visited a few hours ago.

that combined with other sightings convinces me that these ships are grown on a planet's surface.

I plan to return to Asterope and see if my friend is still around (ha ha). This time if this happens again, I'll attempt to flash morse code to the eye as opposed to the backside. I also want to thank everyone whom has given rep, I appreciate it.

CMDR Arc_AngelLR deserves a prop up here as well, he was super patient with my investigative mind.

Also, Outer Space Proctology is not my thing.

Look like the view looking down into the middle of the thargoid site. When at a site are we looking at a big ship face down......

Does that mean the planetary bases are face-planted Thargoid ships? Serious question.

my theory, and I could be wrong, but those giant bases could be the ones that carry the babies. Theres magic that happens inside these bases (think rumpy pumpy in the sack) and the opening at the top of the base could well be the thargoid version of a lady's baby hatch (don't you love my wording on all of this).

It's common for pregnant species to 'nest' for childbirth, its possible it's happening here too

Thargoid Diary:

Today some human kept checking out my rear bumper! The guy was obsessed by it, taking photos, sharing them and who knows what else. He must work for one of those British Taboid papers or something.

Yet another reason these humans need to be wiped out.

Looks like I might have to check out the closest "hatchery". Your technical jargon staggers me sir. Well played. Sorta looks like this...

I was driving on it's backside or hatchery? Interesting indeed and yes, the top of the bases do resemble my Encounter last night. Interesting indeed.

If these things ever take off, i have a feeling that they are going to release a swarm too by this "hatchery"... but a swarm of interceptor !

You might have something there CMDR nickweb. Last night I decided to return to the scene of the Crime to see if I can gather more information. I decided to take my AspX instead of my DiamondbackX.

2 Jumps away from Asterope I encountered a Thargoid, this one was a little more "uncooperative".

I managed to keep pretty close to the vessel as it flew away after scanning (my procedure now is to let them scan away, myself and things around it) and noticed that the small RQs (like the armed Predator Drones), return to this area.

It's not an anus, it's the Vessels Hardpoint.

This is where those drones that circle the Thargoid return before entering hyperspace/witchspace. So in theory, your idea is correct.

1 Jump from Asterope, I ran into the most hostile Thargoid to date. Just me jumping into the USS Area prompted a deadly response. It chased for me 3min targeting Shields and Engines and ultimately destroyed me. But I am not going to let that phase me, I am designing a "Thargoid Investigator Class" Ship (not sure, but it has to be fast if I need to run, might use a Viper MKIV) and going back out until I am satisfied there are more than just one type of Thargoid out there. I know there is.

Out to investigate again, I plan to keep collecting data and science.

Thargoids keep their drones up their anus? No wonder they make those pained noises and are so grumpy.

Unengineered, I can get 38.18LY Jump Range on it. I have to either Engineer the snot out of the engines on the AspX or strip it down. I will admit, I love the DBX, at first I was hesitant, but I fly this for most of my Exploration runs. Even boosting, I can get pretty decent (but not fast enough) speed.

Here is my DBX Build: https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/dia...weloBhAOA6BGEUCmBDA5gG2SE8IFA==&bn=Resolution

I have the AspX for long range exploration, which hasn't happened yet. Thargoids got in the way. I've been slowly engineering the Engines, Sensors, Scanners and FSD on this to make it one helluva ship, but it's a long way out. I keep getting Space ADHD.

Fantastic story OP, I'm experimenting myself by looking at different behaviors among the Thargoids.
I've been attacked, shoo'd off but also had a great time with one of them who hyperdicted me and then copied all my moves staying within 450 meters from me.
I could just jump out at any time I wanted.
Somehow it looked as if it was waiting for something, I'm gonna take some meta alloy or something else they like to pick up with me and hope to get a similar encounter.
I'll drop the goods and see what it does.
To bad we didn't have the scanner yet at that time.

had this same thought when one did that to me. Like we really did need to give them enough of something or the right something to progress. I'm heading back there with about 50 MA to give to the next one that follows me around.
