Interesting moons

I have yet to discover one...has anyone found any earthlike moons, water moons, even metal rich or high metal content moons? I haven't been scanning any since early days when it seemed to me they were all rocks.

Also, when people are talking about contact start or planets, are they actually touching or just in very close proximity?

I've found a terraformable rocky moon, and a water moon around a gas giant. I dunno the rules that make this likely but I usually scan the moons of terraformable planets just in case. Also HMC planets tend to orbit stars that orbit other stars, and are easily mistaken for moons.

I've found a couple of water world and ammonia world moons. No ELW moons yet, but others have confirmed their existence.

Well, I was gonna save these pics for my thread when I return from my Sag A* trip, but here are my 2 best moons so far :) (edited, cause I have more to tell after I return :D)

Ammonia World moons are very rare but I have been lucky and found one:

Water world moons are not quite as rare but still uncommon, mostly orbiting brown dwarfs but sometimes as moons of other planets. I have even encountered a water world with a water world moon:

Regarding your other question, I have not encountered any touching planets or stars but have seen other threads where a planet is partly inside the outer atmosphere of a star. I'm sorry that I do not remember which ones, though hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for all the replies. Good to know to look closer.

As for the contacts, I have found stars within about 2-3Ls from each other, thankfully one was a cold dwarf, and planets much closer than that, but never anything actually touching, which I suppose would be a shortlived event in any case.

Obligatory quote:
On our journey back to Earth, we have encountered many strange and bizarre things.
Only last month we came across a moon which was shaped exactly like Felicity Kendall's bottom.
We flew around that one a couple of times.
Still searching...
