Interesting point of view from a long time ED Streamer on Fleet Carriers

For all we know they could be coding blockchain under Elite that would make lag-free multiplayer with unlimited players in any instance, base building with FPS PvP base capture and raiding mechanics, armoured SRVs to support such attacks, pubs where our avatars can hang out on stations and make deals for our new player owned companies. All in open.
I know the chances are slim, but who said I can't have dreams.

Over 4 billion systems and you want to build a base in one of them or hang around in a virtual pub. Good grief.

Would it really take all that much for FDev to give the Open-only crowd their own server, BGS, bubble or just give them the game they've been asking for incessantly for years?

That's not rhetorical. Genuinely asking as I have no idea how much a server costs to run. It just seems like there's demand for it, and possibly earning potential.

I'm aware that it would probably involve separate dev teams and essentially be a whole different game, but surely it would create more revenue than rollercoaster and theme parks? So why don't they do it?

Or maybe FDev should simply disable PvP in Open (this is simple, just do not allow target and shoot another real player and disable the player vs. player collision boxes) like Guildwars 2. :)

And no, ED as a whole will probably never will create more revenue than rollercoaster and/or theme park games. The community of space sim games is relatively small when it comes to whole player base.

And that is why all these new space games are coming out one after another. It's all about money laundering.. right?

I do not know. As far as I know, there are no space games coming out one after another. NMS is here for couple of years, Star Citizen is still waporware etc. And for example my daughter and her classmates are mostly playing games like Fortnite, LoL or various DOTA games.

And personally, I will return to the Guildwars 2 as soon as there will be a new Living World session, which will be October 16. I think.

Actually, the reason why I returned to the ED after almost three years was a pure coincidence. In May, I once more decided to look at TV serie "Firefly" and suddenly I got the itching at my hands that I need to fly some space ship. So, I reconnected my Saitek X52Pro and selected ED in my Steam library. I have a life time pass, so the game updated and I started at the point where I was three years ago. So far, a nice experience...

Meh, stopped watching after 1 minute. Just another open VS solo threadnaught coming up.

Nice try though.

I listened a bit longer. It was mostly one big multiplayer whine, and a lot of assertions about FDev's actions.
He made 1 or 2 points that made some sense.

For a moment I thought he would make the point that we need a good npc crew system to man our larger ships and especially these personal carriers. That would have made sense.
If we are able to use these mega carriers without needing a decent number of crew to run them, then this carrier thing will be a very bad and sloppy addition to the game.

I don't care about his multiplayer whine, but that simply is because multiplayer is of no interest to me personally.

Obsidian ant keeps posting videos about all kind of new space games. Inform yourself before you make dumbfounded statements.

No summary, no interest.

I don't know who's video this is, but I've seen enough sub-garbage production value videos, I just don't bother watching. Maybe this one is good, maybe it's not, but Title/Video link posts aren't going to draw me in - at least use a Media tag. Throw in a little about what we're supposed to see, some highlights or something that says "I watched this too", not "I posted a link for it".

I've not played elite in a couple of weeks, Is it possible for you to stop until I return because you're actions in game will interfer in my game for obvious reasons.

I'll message you to let you know when im back playing.

Thanks.
Sure message me. You may even hold your breath while you wait for my answer.

or you could inform yourself and realize that nothing is even remotely comparable to the type of game that ED is. These new games are all of very different style and character. All they share with each other is the space theme, but that's pretty much it.

Or do you play games just because they are space games?
The guy was talking about no player base for space games. I point out that there are other space games coming out. Than you come freaking out that those space games are nothing like elite.
Where did you read me saying they were like elite?
Seriously..you carebears just can't get enough of embarrassing yourselves. It's pretty obvious why you fail to learn 2 god-damned steps to survive an interdiction. Just like the intelligence difference between predator and pray animals...
