Internal Security Attacks for no reason

Be me just lost 20mill because ISS decided that not only are they going to kill steal the NPC anaconda but kill me cause they can. F@!$ this like what man this bug still exists!!!!!!

Look at your log files. it will say there why they attacked you. It's not a bug and never has been. You probably have a bounty on you, so it'll happen again.
Nope no notoriety or bounty and nothing in log beyond warped engaged pirate dead

Sounds like the lovely old bug "some or all System Authority spontaneously turns hostile".

It's been like that since almost a year now I believe.
Only solution to resolve it : instantly recall any deployed SLF and leave or reset the bugged Instance

Most severely affected locations :
  • HighRES
  • (to a lesser extent) drop-in locations after Pirate NPC interdiction and Authority showing up (normal crime response)
That's what you'll get then, even without any fines, no collisions, no bounties. You don't even have to deploy hardpoints for the bug to strike.

(note that 50% of the 100% Allied Authority Ships here weren't affected and simply moved on as expected - while the bugged other half relentlessly attacked without any reason)

Yes, this. It's not a common bug, but I've had it plenty of times over the last year or so when system authority will drop in to help with a pirate attack, and part way through the fight one of the three will turn hostile, and if I hang around long enough another one will - but almost always one does not.

No fines or bounties, not wanted. As FalconFly says, if it happens, leave the fight and it generally doesn't happen again in the next instance.

That, or being hostile to a local faction would certainly cause NPC's to attack, but I'm pretty sure they'd drop in as hostile, not turn hostile part way through a fight for no reason.

Depends on how observant the OP is and how they have their cockpit colours set up I guess. It's something that can easily be missed with modified cockpit colours and when you are task focussed. That is, at least until security turns round and shoots you.

There is also another possibility, there have been cases - especially with heavier armed ships where you can wing security enough to aggro them, possibly with a bump or glancing weapon hit, but not enough to attract a fine or bounty.

Certainly awareness plays a part. When it's happened to me I'm not immediately aware that they have started attacking me instead of the NPC (that they were previously attacking), because I'm being shot at by the original NPC. But as I said, they change sides part way through the fight, initially with the player attacking the enemy NPC, then one by one deciding to go for the player instead.

As to your second point, honestly I've never seen that. If you fall victim to friendly fire you get a bounty, become wanted and they will attack you. If you don't break the FF threshold you may get a comms warning, but they don't attack if you are not wanted.

I have had this, but not since before last update.
It was very rare.

My colors are modded but not in an unreadable manner and not even a warning was issued to me also I have over 300 hrs in game so it's not like I'm a complete noob
