Interview with SDC about Salome.

I don't feel like going back and forth all night so I'll just leave this and go. We got you here saying it was only one or a few whinging on the forums that they were told to bug off and maintaining people could have done what they want only so long as it fell in line with one of the prescribed roles in the defensive team's master plan, whatever that was. Then we got reports of people being kicked from discord, murdered for showing up armed, and people who admit to having to take some 'test' to pass for gud on the defensive team. So the only impression I can make is if you didn't get the memo you weren't welcome, if you didn't follow some yack's orders you weren't welcome, if you were armed you weren't welcome, if you weren't known you weren't welcome, if you could pass some test though you were cool. The question was put to SDC in the OP and instead of a denial, we got a haughty explanation about how players that didn't fit their mold would be a detriment by their standards and a waste of space. The question was does that seem like elitist behavior to you. If it doesn't to you, I don't wish to know what does.

That does seem like elitist behaviour to me, but those things did not happen the way you, or they, describe. Your mistake comes from believing reports that are taken out of context of the reporters own behaviour, and sometimes flat out lies.

It may not have happened to you, but I was on the receiving end of some of the things mentioned there, including being chain interdicted, attacked and told to make space in the instance for more "useful" cmdrs...

Even when I followed the instructions to stay 1000ls from the main star I was still being interdicted and told to leave... Needless to say I eventually grew tired, killed a bunch of them and left to do something more fun.

While I concede that not everyone will have had the same experience, those that did were left with a very low opinion of PAC.

The OP and subsequent words of Ryan's were very carefully chosen to subvert opinion and illicit salt from the already disaffected player base, mostly in the form of inserting very cruel barbs hooked to strings which can then be tugged on. I certainly wouldn't advise anybody to interpret it at face value.

When reading SDC propaganda it's always wise to search for the hidden dagger, first. Or in this case, the sub-context.

I'm amazed that more people don't realise this because honestly, it's hardly Swiftian in its level of nuanced humour.

That's annoying, sorry they were jerks. We should have had a way for non-PAC folk to report bad behaviour of our members. They defeat their own purpose, if they're near you and not the star to help the VIP.

Wait, you got irritated with their behavior and killed a bunch of them before telling them to stick it in their black hole? Respect, Jon! That sounds like a win to me. I only wish I'd been afforded the same righteous opportunity to kill a bunch of deserving CMDR's in a similar situation.

Good work.

There's always a few bad apples, I was in 46 Eridani earlier in the day, and everyone was great. I think the problem may be that anyone could identify themselves as a member of PAC.

Wasn't that much of a victory, 1 clipper, 1 asp and a python taken out with a fully modded corvette, satisfying though. I will say, I only opened fire after I'd already agreed to leave the system, and they still interdicted me while I was trying to jump out.

This thread has been one magnificent salt-scoop. Thank you to everyone involved!

You're welcome.. what are your plans for all this salt... You could build mountains :p

To be fair, the game is called Elite. I guess you may have to deal with that one at some point soon.

You may have a point, maybe they should rebrand it to....

What parting advice would you give pilots that want to participate in the event that may not be part of an organized group?
Get to know Drew. He'll provide you with all the details about Salome's travels, so you just turn up in whatever system you agree on, and he'll fly a bit back and forth while you have an easy kill and he'll have his ending to the book.

It's all about who you know, not what skills you have.

Ouch! Do I detect a hint of bitterness mingled in with the salt and pepper? :p

Salomé accepted all friends requests, up until the event was announced.

I logged in quite late in the event and flew directly to Anumclaw, using the friend marker. I never did see Salomé in my instance but if I had followed fro the start, I probably would have at one point.

I had no affiliation with PAC or CoR or Drew. I just went there. I wasn't even interdicted.

With a bit of luck, any one could have gotten her. If the PAC had had sense enough to use 'man to man marking' on the SDC pilots, she would have made it. They had Harry in their friends list.

Cor bodyguards did their best, but were unlucky with connection issues.

PAC were outwitted by SDC and messed up. They helped SDC by keeping other attackers out.

CoR won the event 3 to 1. SDC got one point(probably the only point they wanted) and the PAC leaders are the clowns of the show. Zero points for them. :D

Darned skippy I am bitter! It's the best of the flavours. It's a flavour with hairy balls. Salt and Pepper is so 80's.

By the way, you have the bestest sigs.

Between you and me ... I might have been kidding there. But don't tell anyone. :)
