Introducing a new Minor Player Faction - what is the process and timelines?

Mods and Devs: Instead of deleting posts not offensifve but only for request explanations and explaining situations, be more serious and respectful towards us.

just to get this into perspective.

the groups subforum has subforum-specific rules, which are stated and forced to be seen before posting there.

"1. One thread per group.
2. One pinned general-discussion thread for the merits of groups.
3. Posts in threads should relate to the group only.
..."

so, no matter how much i feel your frustration, OP's thread in dangerous groups was definetly in the wrong place, and i would have deleted it as well.

sticking to the stated rules of a forum isn't disrespectful in my books.

luckily OP sees it in the same way (or similar):

This post was previously in the Dangerous Discussions > Dangerous Groups sub thread as it is related to their introduction, but the Frontier Moderation team deleted the thread because Specifically, the thread in question was not about a player group (as threads in this forum should be).

So reposting here.
If there is a more appropriate location, please can it either be moved there or someone pm me and I'll repost a third time.

if you are not happy with a moderator's action, the forum rules also detail how to contest it: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...23-May-2016)?p=3895631&viewfull=1#post3895631 - hint: discussing it on the forums is not the way to go ;-)

good luck with getting the group ingame nevertheless!

Dear Frontier, We are waiting since March our faction. This is really important not only for us, but principally for you. We need a target in this fantastic game fo continue playing. Manage our faction is like create our history in the game.
I know it ask time and you've to manage tons of troubles, but I think you could create a way for an automatic faction creation and off course in case of no use....automatic faction elimination.

@goemon: Are you a Moderator? Sorry, I'm not English, sometimes I have difficulty understanding...... you wrote right things yes but........ living us abandoned to ourselves? Even in the dedicated thread? Say something once a month in the locked thread? Saying nothing at all "shortly thereafter 2.4" nowhere? Is it a nice behavior by Devs? Love ED anyway..... (y)

I've incensed Frontier many times but now I think I can express my disappointment if I don't offend anyone and I use a polite language.

Technically nothing..... but: Why lots of people ask for an own faction named with a chosen name? Sense of belonging to a group, with its own description in their System...... well, lately Frontier has problems even writing this new description.....

Neverending waiting

We are waiting for the faction since March ... fix bugs ... Thargoid .... Expo .... they gave us a pending list .... they told us ... SHORTLY THEREAFTER.. but nobody has said when .. no one considers us .... we bought elite and therefore our faction ... we are not asking for a favor .. we just want what's right for us.
.... Frontier.. where are our Factions?

NEVER-ENDING

Yet no Devs partecipating in the discussion...... that's incredible!!!!!!!!! The sound of silence.

Hello darkness, my old friend....

So I'm kind of happy my silly, one dog faction, didn't make the cut. :)

Not even the appeal of being a wacky engineer, with a max of G3 upgrades on the basics.

We are a "pending" minor factions of around 50 members, waiting for months to see out faction in game.
As soon our name ended up in the "pending list", couple weeks ago, we gathered all of our active members to start system-bgs preparations (a couple of factions around out, a couple boosted and so on).
People is getting bored by not having a true "personal" group purpose, waiting and waiting for that, especially the late-game players that already shoot Thargoids and played the new 2.4 content (on a side note: a bit buggy, but overall nice job Frontier).
When can we expect to get the pending player minor factions in? We expected this to be the "right" week, but it's friday and nothing happened.
Can we at least have a "release date"?
Can someone from community management team give us some information?

Erik,
A tad over dramatic.
As has been pointed out by other posters on this thread. It is entirely possible to adopt an already in-game faction and treat it as your own.

(what would you have done if Frontier had rejected your Faction request in March?)

The intent of my original post was to ask for timelines to go along with the process that has been defined.
Once timelines are established, I at least know when to expect things and can judge as to whether I want to choose path a or b.

Given that it has been almost three months since the last player faction was introduced, at this stage I would even accept an apology statement from Frontier saying something along the lines of '...sorry but technical constraints have come to light that mean that we will no longer be able to introduce any more minor player factions, thank you for your support in this matter...'

It would probably produce a bit of salt from some over-entitled individuals but we would then move on.
The lack of comms, means that salt levels are increased where multiple people are asking for an update and then feel that they are being ignored.

Rather than Hyperbole, can we please stick to reasoned debate.

That's all I want. A reasonable time frame for our pending faction. Every week I park up on Wednesday night and every Thursday I am disappointed. Is it too much too ask for a little communication plz

I repeat: still no Devs in this discussion....... WHERE ARE THEY ??????????????????????????

I doubt they will jump in here. Edit. they couldn't tell you more than what cmdrs in this thread have said anyway.

Just a couple of notes.

Formal adoption of existing NPC factions is no longer allowed. It was allowed only in the early days. Those of us who had worked the BGS since the start were allowed to apply to have the NPC faction attached to us. Were stuck with a fairly silly generic name that we are strangely proud of now. Unfortunately we were only allowed attach one of or factions to the group.

There is no difference between NPC factions and player "owned" factions. In the livestream the Devs talked about squadron mechanics (Guild type). There was no indication that these new mechanics will be linked to in-game factions, rather they appear to be related to group organization mechanics ... also FLEET CARRIERS! :). I wouldn't get my hopes up on any such linkage until we have seen more detail. There are also quote a few groups that don't have an in-game faction.

This is one of the problems with having a central 'Dangerous Discussions' forum for all things Elite.

This particular topic is related to timescales and expectations relating to Player factions being introduced into Elite.
I would be happy with it being based on the Dangerous Groups sub forum but the forum rules for that sub forum have pushed it here.

Frontier have prescribed a process for introduction but have not attached timescales. Just a set of steps. The latest is that beyond 'Submission' vetting, there is now an additional 'Engineering' vetting.

I am fine with this as an approach as it is better to implement correctly once than have to revisit a problem,

... but...

Can we please have an Estimated timeline as to how long the 'Pending' stage will take.
(should we be worried that having been told 1st Oct that our Minor Player Faction is pending to be implemented and isn't yet there?)

Here's a good one; I applied in "may-ish" of 2016. Brett said to send him a PM when I asked for an update. I did on Sept. 7th, 2016. Never got a reply. Kept checking the 3 systems I asked for. My faction was never put in. Fast forward a year. A friend and I were discussing how the PMF never made it into the game even though at one time it was on a "Pending" list. So he finds the thread, see's the the PMF name is spelled incorrectly. Uses INARA and finds the PMF with the incorrect name in some far flung system no where near where I asked for it. I PM Brett. Again, no reply. I submit a ticket on the 7th of this month. This was replied to and I was told "I understand where you're coming from, unfortunately, player factions is not a topic we in Support can help with, this is entirely managed by the Community team. I have forwarded this message to Brett to make sure that he is aware and I hope that he will get back to you soon."

I've tried, and am still trying, to be patient and civil about this, because this is just a game. However, the principles involved are constantly warring with my civility to unleash a tirade. I can't even get a simple communication acknowledging the issue, let alone any discourse on how to correct it. I mean, for pete's sake, what does it take to get someone, anyone, to contact me?

Ouch. Good luck on getting your Player faction problem resolved.
