Introducing the Cockpit Paint Mod (CPM)

Great and slightly bad.

The great: We get all of this color customization for free.

The bad: There won't be (for the forseeable future probably, if this was given the green light) official cockpit materials customization. This seems to only affect colors. It would be great to have entire material swaps to change the design. Right now you can have spike covered raider or gritty mining ships with pristine interiors. It would be neat to touch up cockpits a bit more. Maybe even the pilot seats? Give non imperial ships the imperial flightseat? I might pay for some cockpit customization for some of my daily drivers.

The above isn't really a complaint though even though it might come off that way, congrats OP.

Am I right that this mod makes the interior of the Viper MKIII look like a brand new ship, instead of a scratched up interior that looks like it's had a hundred previous owners??

this mod will make the interior of the viper and any other ship u want look real nice in what ever colour or colours u like and u will love flying around in ur ship way more then u do now. the mod and edhm r works of art and the developers of the mods and the edhm-ui r amazing.

I saw this asked on reddit and was thinking this myself when deciding ships. Will this modify textures so we can clean up the aspx maybe? Or does it just tint/recolour surfaces? Would love to know how it works and if it can be contributed to.

I've always want to have a brand new Viper. I don't touch it because to looks used and old inside 😁

Great work - always nice to see modders finding new uses for 3DMigoto :)
Any chance of 3Dmigoto ever playing nice with OpenComposite?
Research shows that at least at one point in time 3Dmigoto and OpenComposite coexisted in a mod for DCS.
Otherwise, the framerate boosts that OpenXR provides poor Odyssey puts EDHM/CPM on the back burner for me.

I wont use OC because of this but VRperfkit works fine and does the same or simillar to OC without the menu and probably a few less options.

I saw your posts over on the VR subforum. I tried VRperfkit, but was unable to get the performance increase you are experiencing.
In fact, I saw no increase at all with SteamVR and VRperfkit. However, Opencompostite doubles my Odyssey frame rate.
Maybe the hardware differences between you and I, have a 3080 and the Reverb G2.

Maybe, for me the performance wasnt really the issue, well I guess it was as I couldnt get Oddy sharp enough without one or the other but runs really well with VRP, default Oddy looks really soft on my system no matter what the steam or Hmd settings.

It does not do the same, the main benefit of Open Composite is bypassing the SteamVR platform. There's a neat graphic on the OpenXR Toolkit website that explains it very well.
Yes, all this is discussed on the VR subforum.
Sorry to slightly derail this thread. Just saw the author of 3Dmigoto appeared here and thought I'd throw the issue out there.
Although now it dawns on me that he may not use VR or even be aware of OpenComposite and likely can do little to get his shader to work with it.
3Dmigoto seems to have no issues with the other compositors, Steam VR or Oculus, I don't know where the issue lies.

Congrats on getting CPM sanctioned by FD.

Sadly 3DMigoto is an old system that I don't think is updated anymore. It's just used as a method to apply shader changes to Elite to apply the changed HUD colours and any other shader changes. I imagine should a better alternative pop up it'd be a pain to port over, but likely to be done.

Anaconda ( I considered Federal Corvette but wanted something everyone can use)

Also whoo boy that took me down a rabbit hole of encryption.

Nearly ready for mass production 🚀

No texture replacement, just recolour. However, there's 5 different modes of applying colour - some preserve the texture, others make it smooth or shiny. Each texture is a little different and requires experimentation to get the look you're going for. It's a bit of a time investment, especially if you then match the HUD to the cockpit, or vice versa, but well worth it

Looks good so far. Is there the opportunity for people to make their own custom schemes and painting different surfaces different colours?
