Hi - little intro post here. I first played Elite in 1985 on a BBC Mico at school. I actually had an Atari 8 bit computer, which was probably the only mainstream 8bit machine never to actually get a port... I remember being hopeful all the way until about 1990 that it would get one.
Anyway when Frontier came out on the ST, which I bought at the Atari Show in London, that was forgotten and I spent hundreds of hours playing Frontier, when I should have been studying for my A-levels. I still have the box, the story book, maps and everything. The golden age of gaming!
In Dec 2012, I backed the kickstarter for Elite Dangerous, and as a Mac user just finally got my hands on the beta this weekend - I moved to NYC in 2005 - married with a dog, no kids (yet) so still have time for some gaming... from time to time!
