Been having eye strain whilst using the CV1 with ED recently. Had already performed the physical IPD adjustment as my IPD is at the low end ~60mm. In game this helps both eyes be in the sweet-spot for the left and right lens but it still didn't feel right. I always thought the game would automatically adjust the virtual eye position for rendering each eye using the IPD value from the Rift. I did a bit of reading and it seems probably not.
There is a setting in...
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.XML labelled "IPD amount". I adjusted this to match the my IPD and now the game is much clearer, with less eye strain.
I haven't seen anyone post such findings before so I thought I would share in case it helped others. Maybe it is psychosomatic but it definitely seems clearer to me now!
The default setting seems to 100mm which is very odd indeed as I think this is outside the IPD range of both the Rift and Vive?
