IRL Wildlife Encounters

I live in Sweden, outside of Stockholm and there's some wildlife here. Yesterday a saw a roe deer with a kid passing by just outside of my apartment. Last year I got chased by a roe deer buck when I was out running. We also got moose and beaver in the neighborhood. There's rumours of lynx and wolf, but I'm not sure that I belive it (haven't seen any of them anyway).

There's also a lot of foxes around here which I see every once in awhile, which reminds me of being in London a couple of years ago. On my way to the football stadium Craven Cottage, all of a sudden facing a fox in the middle of a school's playground.

And oh, almost forgot, the black bears in Yosemite. There where traces of them everywhere, but I didn't get to see one :(

Luna moth on the back porch here in the country...

I don't remember the name of this species of moth...

Mothposting! Reminds me of this big boy I came across near my house recently - it's a giant wood moth, the heaviest of all moth species. I thought it was a small bird flapping on the ground at first (unfortunately its wings were damaged and it was unable to fly) and didn't even know they lived in the area before this sighting.

Moths are so soft. I held the moths in my earlier posts because they were already dying😕...

But the 2 I saw were the only pretty moths I've seen. The rest are small, white ones...

Oh, and lately I've been seeing the black butterflies with greenish spots on their wings. I have never seen them before this year's. They look kinda like tailed jays but with a lot less spots. Anybody have any idea what they could be? (No pics, sorry. They don't sit still)

this reminds me of the time I saw Wild Asian Clawed Otters in my city, it was near some rice fields.
and I'm not joking, in my car, I suddenly hear a bunch of squeaking noises, and when I look back, a Mother and its 2 cubs were walking along a path.
keep in mind this was near the city which was very much unexpected.

at first, I thought it was someone's pet since it's common here. but there was no pet store let a long a cage near the road.
so yeah it's wild otters

also, this was in 2022, so no pics, and I was on the road

Where do you live that people keep otters as pets?

I went on a hike the other day and saw some interesting animals.

I saw this interesting looking caterpillar. I know better than to touch hairy caterpillars, always a chance they might be venomous. I didn't know it at the time, but it turned out to be a Fir Tussock Moth.

This White-Tailed Deer must have been really used to people. It didn't run away when it saw or heard me, and I came within a few feet of it and it was still munching away on some leaves.

Finally I saw this big American Alligator by the edge of a lake. I only saw its head, but it could have been five, six feet long easy, maybe longer.

This sorta counts...

My paternal grandfather was an artisan. He would take things and creat works of art. One example is a custom mate🧉 he made for me made out of a bull horn and using forks as a base/holder:

Anyway, a few years ago we were hiking in the woods and came across some deer antlers. I really wanted them but he ended up taking them because he wanted to save them for something.
Unfortunately, he died (it was actually around the release of the North America animal pack when he passed) and he never made whatever it is he wanted.
Well, my grandmother found the antlers, along with some other animal bones, and gave them to me:

I didn't even know he had all this stuff, but it's a nice memory of him while also being close to nature

This is very cool

It really is. He made many works of art, such as singing/dancing gauchos made out of spoons and forks.
I remember the last sentence he ever said to us. We were saying goodbye, and he said: "Ciao, los quiero mucho" (goodbye, I love you)
A week later, he died from his brain cancer
