Irritated with redirected missions.

I am really, really, really irritated with missions that get redirected. I'm almost to the station I'm delivering 60 tons of cargo too, then they want me to take it 22 ly to another station. I don't care if they offer me a small bonus. I have no other option than to take it there or dump it, pay a fine and take a hit on the faction rep.

At the minimum, I should be able to deliver the cargo to the agreed upon destination. Then choose to take it to another for the bonus. Under the current system I have absolutely no choice.

I delivered the cargo then logged out for the night. This is a game stopper.

Fix it FD.

Still mad. But wanted to play. I'll go pew pew for a minute.

Then you will love 2.3. Mission redirects are optional in 2.3. Just FYI.

This is more important to me than multicrew :) A large percentage of 'supply' missions redirect (i.e. the ones where you have to find and pay for the goods) which is A) super annoying and B) means I don't hand them into the faction I'm trying to boost. As a result I totally stopped taking those missions. Unless they've for a rare mat, they are simply frustrating. If it happened 10% of the time it would be ok, but current frequency is silly.

It will be interesting to see if anyone ever accepts the redirect in future. I certain I won't.

Redirections are a pain in the butt. I had a couple when Empire ranking in the Aditi system that redirected me 250LYs away. Good job I was in my 30+LY modded Asp.

If anything it throws you off the flow for a while.

There should be an optional button to accept. After all, I don't think that when you accept any mission that there is a clause in there saying the mission could be re-directed. You've accepted taking X from A to B only.

That's good to know. A few times I've had a redirect to a planetary landing, on a planet that's locked so I can't actually go there - shows as red on the system map.

Irritating.
Same here. Cmdr, I had a Cmdr GreyArea interdict me. He was in a Python of your colour. He didn't have UK at the end (I think) Your evil twin maybe? Cant remember if it was open or solo.

I think the redirects should be mandatory, should all be directed to Colonia, for an extra 500Cr and 2 days to complete it in.
Can we take a contract out on you? [big grin]

i had one last night in Arro Naga, which is a 450,000 Ls trip - i was prepared to make that run, as the mission paid quite well.

it got redirected, but i still had to complete the 450,000 because i'd picked up a couple of 'also rans' i.e. data deliveries worth about 10k each. so 450,000 Ls for 20k.

also had plenty of those cases where the redirect occurs just as i'm landing at the destination.

REDIRECTIONS SUCK

i need a bigger font to adequately convey the suckage

REDIRECTIONS SUCK

there, that's better. let's see how 2.3 pans out.
Me to, on the pad! 450,000LS? I think I would have dumped that.

What gets me is who thought this was a good idea in the first place
The thought was good, but it was only half a thought when finished.:D

I hope, if you get a wrinkle redirect come in and decide not to go to the new station, your delivery to the original destination would pay you, either less than your were contracted for but with more rep for accepting that, or more money than you were contcated for (sorry) and less rep. In either case faction influence would be lower?

We're seeing some development in the mission system .. new chain missions in 2.3 but I don't 'hate' how it has been; take it up with the issuing faction, they changed their mind. Fining you for not being 110% do or die for them, is harsh, but does have a certain logic to it.

Contracts should be binding. But, yeah. Good call. Another way of handling redirects would be at the original destination, they offer an incentive to take the redirect as a new mission.

I think it you may bin the message for redirect. you will then be able to deliver to original destination! :) though I cant verify right now , too far away from the bubble!

One of the perils of doing missions around Sol is that, even if you decline anything involving Alpha Centauri, there's always the risk you'll be re-directed to make a delivery at Hutton Orbital. [where is it]

Be nice to not have that to worry about after next week. [up]

Once I had resigned myself to a 150 ls flight and a couple minutes in got a redirect. That was the one time when it was welcome.

Redirects should be optional, and the chance should be used to offer little narrative twists:
Group A wants X taken to Group B.
Group C offers a load more cash for X, but taking that money lowers rep with group A and B

I mean, this happens with passengers already:
Taking a group of rebel fighters someplace and get an request from a shady police agent, asking I take them there instead.

Along with chained missions, it opens up the game to random narratives.
