Is anyone else finding themselves playing the game much less since Arx came in?

Just that really. For some reason I just have hardly run the game at all since these Arx things appeared. I don't really know why but I suspect it might be a reaction to the game sort of putting a value on what you have been doing. I am not interested in earning Arx (I can buy some if I want anything) so am not looking at maximising the awarding of them. However in over four-and-a-half years I have never gone more than a few days without playing and yet in the last two weeks I have hardly run the game at all.

Anyway, this isn't a complaint or a rant or a whine - just interested to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I'm still playing every other day (and mostly enjoy it), but yeah I started to play other games inbetween again (the audacity I know!). Not so much Arx but the September update in general with the many bugs introduced, the lacklustre CG's recently and lack of new content for this year are all contributing factors, combined with performance issues (namely rubberbanding of CMDRs and NPCs alike when in Open).

One thing that has been affected by the introduction of Arx itself is spending in the store. That went down to zero (normally I'd spend 10-15 Euros per 1 or 2 months on stuff). In part because I don't like the idea of fixed Arx packs, and in part because new additions to the store are a bit rubbish imo. If something good comes up I'll probably get a pack but definitely no more impulse purchases from me.

I just started playing again yesterday after some months break, so, no.

It had nothing to do with ARX though ;)

I'm playing around the same amount of time since they were introduced, but only as I have already 'mapped out' plans for both CMDR's so follow my own gameplay.
I did have 'ideas' around December's FC roll-out that had to be shelved, so modified things to keep interesting things going on.

But - disclaimer - I did buy a 'pile' of Arx deliberately to make the earning pretty inconsequential, maybe that made it easier.

Quite an interesting theory. Myself i haven't approached displayed earned arx like this.
Perhaps this information should be limited to the game launcher where, after all, our account information is displayed?

To be fair, I caught myself logging out into the menu now and then to see the updated Arx balance. Maxed out more often than not on the weekly allowance, and hitting it made me think for a second 'oh well that's it for this week's Elite then' until I realise the monetary values attached, so try to just ignore it as much as possible.

Nope, the exact opposite actually but then I am in my normal cycle of playing this game. Who knows, in a couple of months I might take a break for 6 months, or I might continue playing. It honestly has nothing to do with the game, more my state of mind and what is going on around me.

Regarding Arxs, my only change of playing style is now I ensure I log off before any scheduled downtime to ensure any Arxs are 'registered' and not lost (not that it has happened, just being careful lol)

In contrast, the Arx is the one thing that sometimes nudges me to come back and play. I have discovered that beachcombing also makes decent Arx, and after this last II (which is what killed my zeal for ED for the moment), exploring is the one thing I'm currently in the mood for in ED.

Then came along Space Engineers (old game but new to me), and I haven't played ED since.

But then I think, "Well maybe I should log in and go exploring for a few hours just to work towards my weekly Arx." So far SE has won this tug-of-war, but days of SE can also be a bit exhausting, so I might switch back to ED this weekend for a some leisurely exploration, for the Arx!

When looking at arx initially, the weekly quota is so meaningless it invalidated the idea of thinking about the free earnings. I didn't notice them come easy and fast from my natural play style so that didn't help either.

Yeah im thinking about disengaging at least from the community / management side though. What they did in that last pr statement at the minimum hints a real sickness going on if the leading figure finds it so important to appear squeaky clean than admit to the reality of the situation. Especially with the running product for years being so far below that up there self image they carry. Id rather deal with a humble company and an excellent product than the other way around.

It seems to be coming down to its either frontier or elite, and its better to go stick your head in the sand and play the game :)

Looks like i didn't answer the op no change from arx, but frontier are giving me the creeps in a almost serious way.

Arx doesn't enter as to whether or not I play the game. Real life and my mood of the day has a great deal to do with it. I just play and look up now and then to see that I've earned 400 ARX for the week. I don't bother to figure out how considering that 400 ARX = $0.24 to purchase.

I'm happy that the ED Gamestore is up and running. Now I can checkout the Friday sales like in the previous store.

I have purchased plenty of cosmetics in the past, and I might again if new ships I am interested in come along. I think Arx are a bad idea, (trying to hide the cost of cosmetics is an EA style move and anything walking in that direction is to be looked at suspiciously), but they have not changed how often, or how I play. There is a pop up that tells me how many I earned last session when I log in, but I don't really notice them outside that.

lack of small seismic charges has had an impact on my play time, i have refrained from purchasing ARX / frontier points since the mining update, and rather purchased different games with the money i would have put into ED, which in turn lowers my time spent in ED because i have something else to play, and the less i play the less inclined i am to further purchase anything within ED its a vicious cycle.

One thing that did surprise me regarding Arx is that I actually purchased two things from the store since their inception. I spent 1 Arx on the old Thargoid bobblehead - my first bobblehead and now I know why, did not like the distraction on the cockpit and removed it from all my ships. The second purchase was for a Graphite paint job for my Mamba, just wanted it a different colour from the rest of my fleet for some reason. Again, used the Arxs I earned in the game, (think it was 620 or something). In the end, FD hasn't made a cent out of me :D

I have found myself playing much less in the last few weeks because my 9 year old PC has died. Twice. I find myself now in the miserable situation of having to consider soñé latest generation imponente for my new PC. Very, very sad I tell you.
I feel for you! My PC decided to become unstable a couple of months ago, New PSU, GPU, Motherboard & RAM followed in rapid succession as the 'fix' didn't fix it - points to an intermittent issue on the motherboard in my case... but still £1,200 spent over a couple of weeks 😢
