Is Galcop a Thing Again?

I actually preferred that to the Fed v Empire paradigm.
Which is why I'm rather fond of Galcop and would prefer them not to be another player faction.

INRA might fill this gap, but it could just as easily be lifted by SEPP, AEDC working with other groups, or any number

Idk if GalCop is back, or if the player group are just going for a cool recognizable name? Either way, you gotta respect the production values on their videos. They really make an effort.

Pretty sure they're gonna win the next Dangerous Games, so they'll be on the galmap in some form.

Ok thanks, doesn't explain the Galnet and local news articles though.
They are player made , but they are canon.

There seems to be 3 levels of canon.

L1 the most important its books and in game stuff by FD
L2 player made stuff that FD puts in game or in GalNet (making it canon)
L3 sort of canon , but FD can retcon it or ignore it if need be (like some of the more silly factions that are not in game)

Also for the record, that one little blurb is what inspired us to look up and research the history of GalCop in the first place.

Jotunheim
While Gal-Cop have been accused of cashing in on the historic name of GalCop, that hasn’t stopped the corporation from flourishing
“To Protect and Serve.”

it still leaves me in awe how much that lore blurb came true. It's cool if in character people distrust GalCop. That comes with being GalCop, actually.

It just seems like most of the resistance comes from players, not the players' characters, you know?

What happened to the talking frog aliens and the cat people?
They are not canon (thakn goodness)
As elite dangerous is a reboot

I think the alliance is so busy causing the feds and empire to go to war theres going to be some interesting war states developing in coming months, i still expect most of the real action around the paladies

Its all good it just seems galcop are the latest of about 20 groiups so far who have gone on a recruitment / promotional drive with content revolving around jaques, wont be the first wont be the last, probably just their size that is leading to a counter community response ( who can and will form their own anti galcop groupings etc and the cycle of life continues)

I don't even know anything about your group, so this is a great networking opportunity, if anything.

UA "bombing" is a thing but the thing is anyone can engage in it, so its not a tool in a sense that is specific to anyone or group - everyone can get access to it

I was always confused to why frontier added in the harmful UA effects. It's only purpose is for grieving. How could they not see that.

I get that... but I've yet to see a non-obnoxious use for them.
It was great at the beginning when it was part of a mystery and not yet weaponized. It's turned into something of a farce.

yeah the storyline really hasnt gone anywhere, except the meta alloys became high demand and the feds and imps started militisation efforts.

But you are right the community has used them as weapons against each otehr rather than creative and storyline driven shutdowns.

1. Stop being a bunch of toads (oh, and UA bombing everyone who hurtz your feelz)

2. nah, just do number one and people would probably consider it.

Way ahead of you, chief. The UA bombings were done by the Diamond Frogs, who are a member of GalCop, not the entirety of it. That aside, I actually caught hell and had to promise to stop after we brought 109 Piscium's only station (with refuelng and rearming) down. Still sorry about that, fellas!

We (meaning the Frogs) originally bombed Eravate's Ackerman Market after the player group there hired us (via proxy) to help them win Cleve Hub... then promptly stiffed us payment and took full credit for everything. We needed to experiment what these new fangled UA's did when sold en-masse...

Utlimately though, UA Bombing is a gimmick GalCop does not engage in and Diamond Frogs have stopped, because it's a stale trick with a known cure - it's the equivalent of letting the air out of someone's tired. Funny the first time...

The UA Bombings of Sol, Achenar, and Jaques Station were not done by the Diamond Frogs (we love Jaques cocktails, for one), meaning DF regrettably touched off a UA Bombing war that has affected dozens of systems. You either have to admit it's more than just the Diamond Frogs doing it, or you are admiting the Diamond Frogs are pretty powerful to be able to do so much damage. Pick one.

The story-line is fine, if somewhat on the slow side. But I actually appreciate the slow-burn story, and the feeling that this might be happening in a real place, at a real pace, and not just revolving around players.
And for their part in the story, the unknown artifacts were awesome and spooky.

But now they're mostly used to grief players and derail CGs.
Now Black Markets must know that accepting them shuts the station down... including the black market. Why are they still accepting them?

If I was on story duty I'd strip them of their station-killing power and start having them carted about by small smuggling ships carrying them: The inference being that they're being moved from the black-markets to somewhere else for some sinister reason.
