I just finished a bit of messing around after the completion of the CG in Wolf 406, and decided to head back in the general direction of Alioth to work on getting a bit of Alliance cred..I planned to stop by in 78 Ursae Majoris as that is where I'd been basing myself for a while, and I wanted to be around there when the President comes through.

I had read the Galnet report about the president missing a planned meeting on Saga as part of this tour and thought that was a bit odd, but started wondering if foul play has befallen her when I noticed a large debris field near 78 Ursae Majoris B 4...there are checkpoints around nearby also, and the nearby stations are in lockdown due to an outbreak (is it a cover?!).

When I dropped into the debris field for a look around, the debris is definitely from LARGE ships. Several of them...could the President's convoy have been ambushed?

The Clipper debris could be from Empire forces......if so we know what this means!

This may be the result of a attempted assassination of our Fed President, though I concur that she would not let herself be allowed to be escorted by some fragile Clipper's when she has battle Anaconda's and Pythons to protect her dainty figure.....Nice find though MarkL.nz...have some Rep.
Yea there is an alternate Galnet post on Lady Kahina I think it is, who is..was...38 hours late for her next stop because she had to ''make a detour''....connected....? Maybe.

Interesting find. I'm wondering if the wrecks are generic though, randomly chosen, but the fact there are debris fields in the first place is telling...

I've seen a Debris Field before - in Kappa Fornacis shortly after the conflict zones in that system finished - so if it's just where the 78 CZ was, it's probably just that.

Debris fields are not that rare, I've already come across several of them, never found anything interesting... however, there are often pirates around there so to me, they seemed like a USS containing pirates for bounty hunting.

Hmm. Maybe, indeed, because both community goals to secure the areas were successful, the assassination attempt failed, and this is (as Rockstep and Rich said) the remnant field of the attackers.

Yes, I like that theory...and the comment Rich Bramwell made about Lady Kahina being late somewhere also does make for an interesting co-incidence. Another theory on that could be that I'm wrong about an ambush and both Halsey and Kahina met to discuss some form of alliance (maybe to take out one or more of their enemies - setting the scene for interesting happenings in Powerplay, perhaps)?

The Debris field is new since the CZs there shut down. As I said, I'd been basing myself in that system for a while and when I left for the Wolf 604 CG there was nothing like that around there. So it could be related to the CZ action I suppose, but I'm in a fun mood so I prefer the conspiracy theory :D

It's a shame you cannot I.D. broken hulls for a ships name like the name of Lady Kahina's Clipper in that particular debris field MarkL.nz. That would be most helpful, but alas.....it's not to be, Galnet will most likely be out first answers.
Don't forget....this beta of Power-Play we will be starting playing today has an ''Accelerated'' version of the faction progression and retrogression......Meaning you will get rank easier and quicker and get into trouble with opposing factions much quicker too, so use any spare time you have to try out a few theories and break some rules....be a bad CMR and kill some Rozzers, defect to an opposing faction or just try to rep up with your existing faction...none of it will matter in a weeks or so's time so be Creative and be Bad too.

That may be what's left of her attacker... but the pessimist in me says , it could be a random spawned debris field...
But a choose to believe its her attacker

Thank you, I stand corrected, Still, there may be a courier's hull in there too, the debris field looked big to me, I personally have never seen one that big but many others have so we will have to wait for Galnet to tell us in the live game as opposed to the Beta game really which is maybe a separate world but with closely related events instead maybe.
Or exactly what happens in Beta may and will happen in the live game, hard to tell yet folks.
