It won't actually need to go "gold" as its releasing on PSN only, so technically they could wait pretty late. I would not imagine Sony certification would be long thing.

Yes, this is one thing that allows Frontier to be pretty hush hush about stuff: they don't need to send out a master copy of the game, have the blue-ray pressed, the covers stamped, the boxes shipped across the globe...It takes a few clicks (well, metaphorically) to just send it over to the PSN and there you go, the game is out.

I don't think ED have done pre-ordering before from what I've heard - excepting when they did the kickstarter funding maybe at the outset. Apparently they tend to just 'drop it' with little or no forewarning. Just keep checking back or go on their mailing list.

For a console... no... but Planet Coaster (FDev's other game) was available for pre-order 2 months before releasing on steam

How will this work? Will there be a hard copy disc to insert into the ps4 or will it only be available via download, and since I've never bought a game for ps4 via download how would that process work?

So no hard copies will be pressed. The link for that should be in this thread somewhere.

For PS4 digital download, you simply navigate over to the store, find the game you want, select the PURCHASE button and click. If you have a linked Credit Card, it'll pop up a confirmation screen. If not, I believe it will ask you for the credit card number and SSC/PIN. Once payment is accepted, there should be a download button on the next screen. I think mine just automatically starts downloading, but not sure if I set that up or not. Exit out and the game tile will be on your scroll list and the green download status bar will be under it till it finishes.

Oh and one more thing, make sure you have space on your PS4 HDD. If not, you'll have to clear space. I'd highly recommend a newly supported external SSD/HDD. It's very easy to set up and move stuff.

Only issue with this is the fact that the PS4 has 2 USB ports on the front and this will take one of them. Looks silly IMHO but it's functional so...

I feel that it will drop the same time as 2.3. I think there is only a few more weeks boys and girls! That is wishful thinking of course. We have been waiting forever for this and just want to climb into that pilots chair and launch! BF1 is getting old! HAHA!

So how big of a download do you guess it will be? Anyone know how big the XBox download is?

I downloaded it on my brothers Xbox today and it was about 10gb.
