Is it possible to retrieve old comms messages?

Yesterday I accepted a kill mission. I have searched +60 USS's without success.

I was offered an alternative target in my second USS. I did not accept it. I did not press "abandon".

In my fifth USS I found the alternative target. Not a shot was fired.

I raised a bug report, and on that message, a helpful CDR suggested I may have wrongly read the second USS message.

My question is: Is it possible to retrieve old comms messages?

I am desperate to find this target. I have 6 hours left.

Thanks in anticipation

You can scroll up all the msg's for a session but once you log off there gone after that you need to have been running a screen capture like shadow play and literally watch your old footage to see the msg again.

Thanks lunithy and Eagle Eye.

Good idea about shadow play. I'll make more use of that in future.

Looks like I'll just have to move on, and accept the mission failure.

Fly safe everyone.

To avoid the counteroffer in assassination missions do the following:

  1. Upon the initial Bulletin Board message, pay attention if the target is announced to have any affiliations with any factions
  2. If the mission description announces the target faction and lists several alternate starsystems, locate the 1st USS in a system that has no such faction, for this ensures that you don't get the counteroffer first.
  3. In case that the targets faction is not mentioned, and there are multiple systems to look for USS, go to one that has no space stations if possible. This also ensures that you don't get the counteroffer first.

For example, let's say that you are looking for a target that is said to be alligned with some Lave-based faction, but the mission description lists Lave, Diso and Leesti as possible locations. Go either to Diso or Leesti for the 1st USS. If you go to Lave, chances are that you meet the counteroffer first and the mission will become corrupt.

Hope this helps.

Thanks v01i0.
I wish I had read your message on the 29th. I accepted another "Capable Hunters Sought" mission yesterday, and exactly the same happened.
I am worried that when I get a ranking mission to kill a target, the same corruption will happen.
Fly Safe.
