Is it wrong to prey on the weak??

Over the last 2 days i have had my first 3 human kills on ED. They were all taken at Riedquat hanging around the nav beacon and were all suprise attacks on newer players. Am i wrong for attacking innocent players and taking their scalps or does anyone else find it actually exhilerating like i do?? I really hope someone else enjoys it, i've been feeling everso guilty.

I think that a lopsided fight is just slaughter; there is no glory in it. I wouldn't go so far as to make a moral judgement, but my aesthetics say that an intense fight against a worthy foe is better whether I win or lose, than any amount of carnage inflicted on those who are weaker than myself. To me, it smacks of cowardice and schoolyard bullying.

The question is: "what are you getting from it?"

Sorry i'm really not up on internet speak. It was a genuine question to see if what i was doing was bad. Right is see what a troll is now having just googled it. Really i wasn't trying to upset people i really honestly was just trying to see what the score was with taking on human players, albeit with the odds stacked heavily in my favour. sorry for any offence caused.

Concepts of right and wrong are not rigidly defined and are entirely subjective. It could be argued that you are "right" to attack the weak as this teaches them to be stronger. Or it could be argued that because you are stronger your own "right" to have fun is stronger than those of the weak to have theirs.

Only you can really decide this for yourself. In order to fully ascertain whether or not you're right or wrong about this you'll have to experience it from both sides of the coin. Tell me what ship you're in, what your name is in game, what system you're in and I'll bring a wing of Anacondas.

LOL. Glad someone isn't taking it too seriously then. I'm in a tiny little sidewinder with no sheilds and a pea shooter as a weapon. Please don't get me.

Open mode is anything goes. It's bad if you think it's bad & good if you think it's good. As was said earlier.. "The question is: 'what are you getting from it?'"

So I will simply ask a question to the OP: How would you feel if an Anaconda blind sided your Vulture and blew you to smithereens? Or, if a highly skilled veteran of the Elite universe decided you would be fun to use as a punching bag in space? What would your exhilaration level be for that?

And no this isn't a crack. I would really like to know how you would feel.

Well i have experienced it and only just managed to get away by the skin of my teeth. Surely OPENPLAY means just that???

To be honest it really did get my heart pumping. i suppose it is a bit of a change from having a go a npc's.

I honestly didn't think that this thread would be such a can of worms. Got a lot to learn i suppose.

Not with you. I'm presuming that what i have done is bad then?

I often visit anarchy system near Eravate in a Viper just for the fun of it. The system is full of people who are in for the good fight, all of them in starter ships. The way I see it, there is nothing to feel guilty about, when picking fights in aforementioned setting with equal opposition (viper/cobra). I have an option to do fight in a Python/FDL, but I don't consider it fun or fair, so just don't do it.

In any case, there are no boundaries - "cutthroat galaxy" and all, so blaze your own trail and don't feel guilty.

I was playing in an A-Specced Cobra once when I got almost ganked by a Sidewinder. I got interdicted and I didn't think at the time it'd be a human player, I thought it was just another NPC. So I submit, and it turns out to be this little Sidewinder, which instantly rushes me. I think "what does he think he is playing at?" and I even stop to type "really?" to him. But the Sidewinder itself had been completely A-Specced and was armed with two multicannons. I didn't take it seriously at all until it was tearing my shields to pieces. He gave me a real fight.

I did beat him, but not before I had no canopy and was on life support. I take nothing for granted anymore.

Without the weak, how could we differentiate the strong? Strike them down. Use all of your anger and hate. Show them no mercy.

Arise, Darth npowell28.

Oh i love that comment. That's what i haven't really seen in this game, a bit of humour! I had no problem when CMDR whatever his/her name was jumped me in the altiar system. Yeah i had to dump all of my cargo just to get them off my back and yes i had to pay thousands of credits that as a new player i could ill afford to lose to repair my ship. But hey it made the game a bit more human. No doubt i'm gonna be hunted down for starting this thread but it was a genuine question, not an attempt at being a troll. The code in the game doesn't stop a wing of 4 anacondas setting a trap for me with pretend cargo does it. Thats pretty underhand so whats the issue on picking on another player every once in a while?

You didn't answer the question. Maybe you didn't understand it or I did not phrase it well enough. Fine. Let me elaborate: In the times you DIDN't get away and in retrospect you also realize that anytime you have to go up against a player that clearly outclasses you, your going to get destroyed. Still gonna be thrilled with the thought of that?

You actually did those players a great service. Thanks to you they now know they should watch their surroundings. They can now also better judge their fighting and / or escaping abilities.

Do you also kick the stick out of old people's hands? Maybe steal kids' dinner money, whether in open play in the Elite Universe or in the school playground bullying is bullying. Surely you don't get a sense of achievement out of this? Beating a player your equal or better is an achievement, beating people who are just learning the game is no achievement
