Is Jacques a good place to sell exploration data?

Did I ever mention why player groups in the second bubble is a bad idea? And they're planning more player groups I hear. Splendid.

Same as the old bubble ... such a shame and a wasted opportunity.
It was always bound to happen. Minor factions are needed for stations, and with minor factions will come player groups. In fact, player groups have already come to Jaques Station when there was only one minor faction there, Jaques. (Named 80 DD something at the time.) It's inevitable that player will want to organize, and as more and more people arrive, one organization won't be able to hold everyone together.

As things were, Jaques' original plan of being a mobile starport that roves through the galaxy would have been more of a new concept than this new bubble. But unfortunately, that didn't work out.

@ unrealization: Sure, and that's a nice aim. In my opinion, it would have been better to state it clearly at the start, so that it wasn't ambiguous. The original request doesn't have to be long to add all the relevant information: "Please don't sell your exploration data at Jaques station, but sell it in the neighbouring systems instead. This is so that we may avoid a lockdown on Colonia Hub. We wish to keep services open for everyone on all stations in the system."
Well, in any case, it's not my place to plan the CCN's communication, and you (plural) have cleared up the misunderstandings from the first requests. Thanks!

This is the exact reason why we're trying to unite them all. So independent pilots can roam about safely. You can't expect everyone to be nice to each others; thus it seems to us that it's best to grab the bull by the horns.

Although I do love your optimism, I remain sceptical.

I was rather reffering to the forum politicks.

Explorers mostly ignore it or arent aware of it, its only going to increase with at least 10-15 at jaques/colonia and many more moving out, and most of these are outside of the CCN remit, and wont react well when CCN high ups start registering on their forums and on their comms and abusing them or tell them they should be in CCN

Most of these are outside of CCNs discord so it doesnt really matter

Others within CCN have said to me they are worried about some of the methods of centralisation, but it doesnt really matter anymore as replied to ziggy theres an equal number and growing number of groups who are outside of any centralised group of groups mechanic, and who are also proposing direct community goal ideas to Fdev bypassing what colonia has had to date ..... and i find that acceptible, of course CCN are welcome to continue their contributions but wont be in control

Grabbing the bull by the horns is ok, its already well past and will be the same as the old bubble, so being behind the trendline im sure CCN will represent a % of player group activity but that will eventually be under 50%. Explorers generally work on their own anyway none of us can reach them all anyway

exactly marx, CCN have those who want it to have greater control through force and diplomacy ( the hawks we might call them) and then theres the other half perhaps who are happy with them being a resource but a non political entity who may well drift of if the hawks gather ways forward, but yeah its really outside the remit of the exploration xcept that exploration data is in itself a weapon of influence.

Events are moving to fast to keep traack of anyway, im looking forward to the next 15 systems that will soon go in with quite a few non CCN player groups getting their minor factions inserted..... Of course this will dilute the waters, create heck even more political activity and be very hard for any one entity to control.

But it will give more spots for trade / missions / exploration / piracy and all manner of other things - the democratic, business, communist and therocratic factions will add flavour

Hey dynamicbob, since we don't talk about you, would you do us the courtesy of stopping showing everyone that you're (still) missing the point?

more exploration / pirate / trade based organisations are en route or already set up and lobbying for new projects. Its a good healthy sign for the development of the game in general, and theres still plenty of systems to be explored even as close as 70ly not being first discvered tag just yet

When u enjoy talking about youreself all the time / a lot, i cant understand how u can ask others not to talk about you, seems like a double standard to me. you would have to stop talking about youreself as well, and as thats not going to be the case i think its best that i place you on ignore and leave it at that and we can get on with things

Again, how is doing canyon races and laughing about it on Discord equivalent to exerting control and centralization of people and stuff? Maybe I just have not yet acquired the necessary wisdom or level of enlightment. Maybe I shouldn't try, though...

Oh, and @ CMDR Murf:

Nope. In my experience, even if your passenger turns "Miserable" (I had some do that because I bumped another ship), they'll still pay you in full when you complete the mission. However, worse than that and they'll just decide to bail on you. Because apparently, floating in an escape pod is preferrable to being scanned twice.
Also, you needn't land at Jaques station: you need to scan the tourist beacon there instead. However, it's close to the station, and there are authority ships patrolling and scanning there. Keep an eye out for them.

Thank you. I guess if I don't upset them again one more scan shouldn't hurt, only one is unhappy or lower. But I'll leave that until I get them home.
One is offering a bonus for not getting scanned. Hard to rush into a station in a Conda though.
I hit my head on that slot every time, they wont like getting hull damage and scanned that's for sure.
The beacon wont be an issue, I'm not actually going to Jaques, I was just wondering how risky it would be to go there on the way home.

Not sure if there's a maintained list anywhere, but......
Neither the planet base in Colonia (Colonia hub was it?) nor Starport Eol Prou LW-L C8-76 A 3 A Colonia Dream have Cartographics.
I just wasted today's game time :(

Indeed. I went exploring for the first time in weeks today. Having heard it's better for the expansion to not sell your data at Jaques, I went to Colonia Hub... Not only no Cartographics, but it's in lockdown, so no Commodities Market either.
I've been bounty hunting at Jaques, and my reputation with the Colonia Council is going down, because most of the pirates at Colonia 4 are aligned with them. How do I up rep with them?

Until the lockdown ends? Run missions out of Colonia Hub if they have any, or travel ~5kLY to the resupply depot in the Boewnst nebula and sell cartographic data there. You could also hang around the Colonia Hub airspace until wanted ships show up there (rare!) and shoot them down outside the no-fire zone for Colonia Council bounties: handing those in will improve your reputation and also shorten the Lockdown duration. On the off-chance you have a Kill Warrant Scanner available - nowhere in the nebula sells them - you could use that in the RES sites to get CC bounties too.

Various historical events have meant that faction is set up extremely strangely in terms of what it controls.

Essentially: of the large pad starports, only Jaques has Cartographics at the moment. All of the outposts have Cartographics but if you have a large ship that means either buying a Viper at Jaques and using it as a shuttle, or just selling at Jaques.

Hopefully the recent mining CG will put some services upgrades to Colonia when 2.2.02 comes out.

I'm in an Asp E which I think is medium? I'm not to buy/sell/make changes until I've sold the data so it's easy to see how much the data was worth (my balance was a nice round 5m due to a support ticket), but was happy to spread it around if it helped (and is safe from probably interdiction). I'm just as happy to head back to Jaques though.

Edit; should add I don't understand the politics/BGS etc, so need simple instructions like 'sell here is abc is shown as running the station, otherwise don't sell'. If data doesn't really help much, no worries.

Like Ian Doncaster mentioned, the deep space surface bases all have the same Colonia Council minor faction present in them, so selling exploration data there is an excellent way of gaining rep with the CC. You can use neutron stars to shorten the trip to the nearest one, Polo Harbour.

Also, these outpost systems have The minor faction with the worst possible luck, the "People of Colonia". They have pretty much no realistic way of gaining any influence in the systems they are present in.
It's also somewhat ironic that the "People of Colonia" aren't actually present in Colonia, nor anywhere near it.

At the moment, every outpost station is controlled by a friendly NPC faction. They're mostly not in any great need of data, but 5 million to each of them will get you a bunch of Allied statuses, which will be nice for pretty much anything else you might do in Colonia later, and help them keep their influence above the NPC Anarchy factions in the same system.

I came in from the bubble again to Colonia last night, I landed at Jaques station & as usual there was NO NPC activity in SC on my route in to the station, a clean & easy trip in.

After selling the data from my ELW systems, I then switched to a smaller ship, Cobra MKIV, & started to move into the other system stations around, just to spread the rest of my 25+mil data around.
In the first two systems I had to weave around a hell of a lot to avoid NPC's that were hounding me, in the third I actually got interdicted just short of the station & won the minigame to sort that NPC out. I sold data to each station, though it wasn't an easy way of doing it due to NPC activity.

I then returned to Jaques station & as usual got another clean NPC free run into the station, were I sold my remaining data.

It's always up to the individuals when it comes to data selling, but IMO if you're concerned about losing a ship with months of data on board, then Jaques is the simple & easy choice.

I just spread 1.7 Bcr Exploration Data across Colonia. 30 Factions or more friendly/allied. Future tells if some of those are worth it.
