Is mining still relevant?

The title pretty much says it all. I heard there was a patch that nerfed mining the other day and I was wondering if it was still worth doing and, if so, what changes there were and if there are any new materials worth lots. Sorry if I put this under the wrong category. Dangerous discussion is usually a safe bet for me. Thanks for your help, o7.

Do you enjoy mining?

If YES: mining is still worth it.

if NO: mining is still not worth it.
I'm just looking for a way to catch up to all the billionaires in the game I've played for a few years now on and off and have gone through several accounts but i think my current one is here to stay.

I haven't kept on top of the mining price changes and do not know what the meta is or what it currently nets per hour. If you have a couple of extraction systems you are have good reps across the board with, running delivery missions netting 20-35 million a pop is a pretty dependable way to currently bring in 100+ million an hour. Stacking bounty hunting missions from different factions and all for the same target sounds like it pays even better now as well, but I haven't actually done it myself.

Yes i do enjoy mining. I do enjoy making credit (could that be one of he most focus of mining ? oh god) . No i dont enjoy having 24/7eye on market to spot decent prices.

No i dont enjoy the whole mining loop to be broken by a demand that can be satisfied in 1hour by 10 cmdr.

thx

oh and to OP

If you'r focusing on making credit then no it's not worth it.
Trading mission currently pay nearly 3 time more and dont require either : mining equipement , looking for station price that contantly change , fleet carrier for optimisation.

Mining's still your best bet then. But bounty hunting is so hot right now ;)

Bounty Hunting is the hottest it’s ever been.
Made over a billion credits in the last few days popping ships.

The compaints over the mining nerf are mostly about Painte, mine anything else any you'll find there's still plenty of credits to be had. Especially osmium mining missions.

If you're not a fan of mining, find an extraction station with no secondary economy and become allied to the factions there. You'll then get delivery missions for various metals that pay around 8-30 million credits each.
The fines for failure can also be in the millions, so don't die.

If you have the patience to spend more time looking for a spot to sell instead of mine... then yeah...
Or you can sell to any station/carrier and earn a few cents...

Dont trust those 100mi/h threads. i can absolutly say that is impossible right now widouth proper assitence of a carrier to stock the cargo and sell for optimal price (And yet, it will depends ALOT on lucky to find a place to sell)

Very much, yes. If you're not in the game just for credit chasing it's still enjoyable and, like others have said, only painite was really futzed with this time. Cores and other sought after mineables are still lucrative.

On the other hand, combat got a bump so bounty hunting and combat bonds are paying quite nicely.

Combat. Robigo passenger missions. Mining something other than LTDs/Painite

It all depends on whether you care more about credits or care more about enjoying the game. Plenty of ways to make money, but if its important to you to earn 200 million per hour instead of 100 million, then follow the money.

Well, given that I just made a bit shy of $800 million on VO's, I'd say mining is still quite relevant. Granted, I've had to work rather harder than in the past, but the 'work' is an enjoyable cruise through Ice Rings pulsing and charging as I go - very relaxing. I'd say the payout is quite worth the minimal effort.
:)

Found a triple benetoite. Mmm. Currently filling a 15000 ton hold. Only 4k out in the black.. got sidelined was exploring but this baby is too good to miss.. carrier plotted up coolerminerconda deployed. Might take a while.

If you like mining and you are allied with a faction asking for silver, gold or palladium, I've seen mining missions of 50 million for around 380 tons of silver.
I imagine it would have been more except for the artificial cap on the mission payouts.
