Is module exchanging possible?

How about the crazy idea to SuperCruise towards a suitable System and get the Ship within Jumprange that way?
I do think the actual distance to the next System is taken into account for the Hyperjump, so it might be possible to basically Supercruise to get within JumpRange.

Not exactly a sexy plan and has limitations - but a full Cobra Mk.IV let run "over night" through SC might actually work.
With all unneeded Ship Systems disabled, the running Fuel comsumption should be good for a few LY

Sadly it doesn't work.. it has been tried. Someone did a test where they super-cruised for several hours. The distance from the star they started from increased by .22LY but the star they were heading towards never got any closer. They kind of separate star instances and super-cruise travel between systems isn't supported..

... pray for him.. q:

Thumbs up !!

I'd definitely suggest stripping all guns and modules off the ship to make it as lightweight as possible .. then joining him in a wing and escorting him to a better shipyard. If short of money he might have to downgrade from his Cobra back to something cheaper for a little while.

Good luck rescuing this Commander.

I do know some crazy guys made like over 7LY in SuperCruise (old attempt to reach Permit-locked Systems, which didn't work due to Systems being Instances) - but 16tons of Fuel would be definitely able to cover a significant distance in SC and make that "HyperJump to salvation".
(and that better be a pre-checked and confirmed good place for the Class 4 FSD :D )

Even if Vela does not have a 4A FSD (Stations Module stock changes day by day, maybe even hour by hour??), they have a shipyard to by a Hauler and a 3B fsd in a Hauler will get you huge distances (14.72Ly, with basic E rated Hauler)

Yeah you have to Highwake to tell the servers that you're jumping to a new system.

Witchspace is really just a load screen

Sorry if that breaks anyones immersion.

Yes, it's not possible to directly arrive into another System.
But it would make the difference between being out of Range of i.e. a 8LY Jump Destination - or reducing it to <6LY with the SC travel and be able to make a completely normal HyperJump then.

At least that's the idea.

Well there's no jumponium planet here, so he sent a ticket to Frontier.
I think this is a good lesson for him x)

Checked the map - there are two landable planets (dunno what they are - didn't scan 'em when i passed through ;) ) - but one looks icy, and the other's probably a rocky moon... but you only need 2 vanadium and 1 germanium for a 25% boost which a with a 4.7ly jump range x25% will get him to Medb. Might not take too long as they are Common elements (not very common, but still not rare)...

edit: p a s s e d == pRhubarb?! what?

He does not need to do this, he just needs to by an A3 FSD at the station he is at now, Fly to Mdeb, and buy a 4A FSD or if not available, buy into a Hauler and jump to where he wants to rebuy the cobra with the correct Modules!

Heh, I thought they'd tried all the obvious stuff! ;) Yeah, the A3'd be the thing to do...

OK panic over - I got a few minutes at lunch and I wasn't that far away Shriver Settlement has A3 FSD's in stock and a commodities market (so even if your friend is broke you can take them a heap of Palladium to sell).

Nice one Heisenberg.B Rep to you for the extra effort. Now up to you OP to tell your friend (Or is it you ;) ) the Solution for getting out of this pickle!

Don't forget that you can increase your jump range by saving weight. If you take a standard Cobra Mk4 and downgrade the FSD to 3A, it has a jump range of 5.76Ly. If you strip it and downgrade everything as far as possible, it goes up to 6.8LY, which is a 20% improvement.
Edit: A re-read shows that that was already tried, so no good in this case, but worth bearing in mind if anybody else has the same problem.
